Updated opinons on 10-12 vs. 13

Long time MB world member and owner here hoping for some current help...read through tons of threads and jumping into a GLK very soon.

Main Question is the 13 model majorly the direct injected engine along with facelift etc..that much better then the 10-12 first gens? I drove both back to back and yes felt the 13 drove much smoother but am open to either one.

Price diff is an easy 5-7k in price, and can easily get a 10-11 put in $1k or so in tune up/ maint and good to go. Yes the price difference matters but if its worth it will go to the newer model. Also mileage difference is probably 30k or so when comparing, so a few things to consider.

thanks in advance anyone

I have a '10 with 68K and it runs great. Would I like a '13 without a doubt. With a better engine, LED DTR's, keyless-go etc. there is no question. If you get a CPO then you should not have to worry about a tune up and it might have something left on the warranty if you look around.

The direct injection should give you slightly better mileage but I have a '10 4Matic and have had zero issues with 95K on it now. Read the list of feature adds and deletes before jumping. Some adds are nice but some deletes not so much.

Would you guys recommend a 250 or 350? I am leaning towards the ridiculous gas mileage the 250 offers and don't care if the ride has some torquiness to it. Diesel here is $.35 cheaper than Premium, but I am not sure how reliable the 250 vs 350 is.

I bought a '14 250 for the mileage over the 350 and happy I did. I like the 4matic ride over the 2wd models. The 13 interior styling was upgraded over the 10-12 model years.

Once my emission system problems were sorted out (NOx sensors, injectors, and ecu software ) the car has performed as I expected it to. I average over 30 mpg on a regular basis in mostly suburban driving and over 37 on longer trips. Diesel for me right now is $2.19, less than $35 to fill the tank.

I have both... mixed feelings... I like mine (2011) has the auto but stickshift in the center instead of on the wheel (2013). I like the less gas used on the 2013, but I don't like the ECO drive, well... more like I don't know if I can trust this newly direct inject engine as much as the good old V6 with constantly start and stop and the battery/injector requirement for that matter. 2013 is more powerful and smoother in general with 300 hp comparing to 260 (2011). I actually like the mundane looking inside of the 2011 than 2013. But my 2013 had AMG styling, so that looks much better outside especially at night with LED lights. I guess I am not helping...much here...

Icool007- we are putting much thinking the same. I drove both again today and both were fine, and now its really just the updated interior and exterior look ( I did think the 13 drove a little better and smoother)...but again its really thinking if its worth an extra $5k.

Did you make a decision? I'm in the same decision-making process... '12 or '13

There is a reason I do my 2010 project. 13 is fantastic in all ways....If you have the budget for a 13 dont even hesitate.

2013 GLK 350
We were leaning heavily towards the 2012 350 until we seen and drove the 2013 350. The interior upgrade for 2013 was a big seller and it drives great. Would buy another again!

Had a perfect timing day... They were taking a trade-in on an outstanding condition '13. Get to pick it up after CPO process. Took advantage of the quick flip. Thanks for all of the responses.
