Well here we are 3 years later....
Three years ago today we got our first Mercedes (GLK250), we now have a little over 55,000 kms and we have averaged 7.8 L/100 km. The only issue we've ever had was the 10 starts issue (which was fixed the same day) other than that a new set of tires and one rim repaired as it got curbed. This car has been totally reliable so far and the quality is second to none. It is still as leak, squeak and rattle free as the day we bought it (Which is the picture here with less than 20 km on it) And the best part is my wife still smiles when she gets in to drive.... That makes it worth it to me.... heres hoping the next 3 years will be as uneventful....

I would have said the same thing a week ago. But then I noticed the vibration on acceleration I posted about. The dealer tells me one rim is "bent" and one tire belt has moved. No visible problem and we have never hit a pothole and only used car for long highway trips. I doubt very much that IS the problem. I am going to get a tire shop to check the wheel. Car drives smoothly except for a few seconds when accelerating at highway speed and not at all during city driving.
Only 29k km on my GLK.

Mine, also a '13 diesel, has been just as reliable and beats yours in that it has been completely trouble free. Though it's not my first Benz it may be my last. I've owned them since 1977, all diesels. For me this has been the best as far as 'fit'. Just completely fills all my needs. However, I'd rate it #2 on my list of great cars I've owned, the best being the '12 300E which my daughter still drives, completely trouble free also but not sure of miles though quite high. #4 for me is a tie with a '78 and the one I still own and drive, the '85 W201 with 156K miles. I'll never be without my Benz'!

Bob, my 76 300 D and 82 300SD had over 250,000 miles each before trade in. Come, on get driving!
Tried Land Rover and only got 150,000 out of one of them 125,000 out of the next and traded the last at 75,000 before the rear end was making noise.
Went back to MB now with over 100,000 on the 2010 GLK.

LOL! Well, the '78 300D had over 400K when I gave it to one of my daughters after getting the '81 300SD. Got the 190D for wife in '85 and she put only about 120K on it before she left it to me. Drove domestic SUV's for skiing for about 10 years. Hard to get more than 80K reliable miles on them and traded them every couple of years before going back to M-B only. I'll try to keep up with you!

I do too, but I don't have real expectations they will. So much more to go wrong on these new ones. They're not as easy for DIY as the older ones plus the electronics are way more than even indie shops may be able to handle. I mostly drive the 190 but I have to keep after it all the time for small odds and ends. Would hate to consider similar problems in the later ones. Not sure I could take care of those. No more than I use the GLK I'll be happy with 100K miles. Only 36K now.

Those old D's were great. Even the bodies seem to stay solid. Once they were started, you could throw the battery away and they still kept on running. Sometimes hard to start when it was really cold, and I had the tranny redone on the 82 but that was it. except for the electric windows and seat, everything was run by vacuum. There was a vacuum pump on the front of the cam that generated the vacuum with a diaphragm. Very easy to work on, with lots of room inside.

So far, I absolutely love my 2014 GLK250 (bought this summer). Coming from a 2005 Legacy GT that had help up pretty well (and was nicely appointed for its day), the GLK is slow as *****, but then again, I was not looking for a sports car.
My gf has a 2008 Nissan Rogue, loaded with leather, Bose, etc... Well, I thought this was a fine car, but my God, getting out of the Benz and into the Nissan, it feels like going from a solid piece of billet aluminum wrapped in velvet-coated gel into a tin can.
The doors on the Benz are heavy, and the first time I opened the Nissan's door after getting used to my car, I nearly ripped it out!
If reliablity remains strong, this car will climb steadily to the top of my favorite cars, my absolute favorite being my 1999 4Runner.

I had a pesky vibration on an old 5 series BMW. It turned out to be the drive shaft support bushing/mount (the BMW uses a solid mount diff case) So there are no u-joints and the drive shaft has to be supported as it is long.
The GLK is the same, With the exception of the drive shaft is short and doesn't have a drive shaft support. (at least it didn't look like it when I looked under it)
It has a solid mount diff case. So if the diff case or transmission mount bushings work loose. This can very much cause a momentary vibration issue when applying torque.

It's really interesting to see others' perspectives on the GLK 250 performance. I had a 2002 WRX for ten years, and it was a bit of a rocket ship, especially when it was new. I "grew up" in 2013 and got an Outback with a CVT, and good lord is it NOT engaging to drive at all. When I test-drove a CPO GLK 250, it hauls so much *** (in comparison). It's not as quick as a WRX, and I wouldn't expect it to be. But man the low-end torque and grunty pull of the diesel is really fantastic (to me). I haven't driven the 350 gasoline, perhaps the 300 HP really is a hoot to drive, but the 250 doesn't feel even remotely slow (to my butt-dyno).
FWIW - my CPO 2014 GLK 250 arrives within the next two weeks. Wheee!
