GLS Not so obvious options

For the GLS550

Noticed heated/cooled front cup holders are an option.

Lower dash wrapped in MB Tex

Anything else??

Are these rear seat (2nd row) airbags?

Isn't the wood steering wheel an option now as well? I believe it was standard, at least on my '16 GL550.

I believe it is standard. The "option" is heated steering wheel which gives you the full leather version (which I prefer).

The guide mentions the wood steering wheel as an option on the 550, but the GL550 did have that as standard, so, now I'm not sure. Maybe one of the new owners can chime in.

Nice catch STG, it is standard. That info was not obvious from what I've seen and the MB configurator is pretty weak... especially compared to Porsche . But I just can't justify spending additional money to get the "downgraded" steering wheel...leather/wood is a 590 dollar option for the 450 and 350 but still 250 for the heated steering wheel on all models...

I'm shocked at the MB configurator as well. You'd think any opportunity to have another box checked would be a bonus for them $$. Geez, they don't even have the heated/cooled cup holder option on the 550, but is on the 450. Surprised it's not included in the 550.

One thing Porsche is good at is making all available options available. That's not even counting Porsche Exclusive.

Nice build, you pretty much have it all. Curious why you didn't opt for P21 Cabin Air purification?

A gaggle of MB's
I recommend the Trailer Hitch to my customers - if for not other reason that additional cabin safety in the event of a rear end collision - in the collision the trailer hitch transfers that energy to the frame - rather than the cabin - small investment and BIG payoff in the event of unintended rear end collision at a stop light and such.

STG, Hitch is $550 but to add later its around $1500 dealer installed. Its a good investment; Bike mounts, you never know and cabin air filtration

On the Porsche Cayenne, the hitch is welded to the bumper reinforcement bar. The whole bar gets switched out. Zero benefit there to any "additional" protection.

Any rear end collision the GLS had would perform the same hitch or no hitch. All cars/SUV's have huge reinforcement bars. They also have unibody construction and don't have old school "frames".

cabin air purification

Dual activated charcoal filters team with an ionizer that uses an electrical charge to create the same fresh-air sensation you experience after a summer storm. Airborne impurities and odors are virtually eliminated from the cabin to provide air quality that's more enjoyable and healthier, especially for those with asthma or allergies.

P21 is listed as "air balance". That's that air freshener that's pumped into the cabin. Not a fan of that.

I'm kinda confused. Is air balance and air purification the same option??

Yes, PDCC lol.

And air balance/purification... 280 bucks... figured why not. No real experience or research on it.

I saw a pic of a fragrance bottle that mounts in the glove box and takes up space. I do like the air purification aspect to it. I'll have to research more.

When are you expecting your delivery??

Yes, I agree, and hope, that there is no "fragrance", "lemon/pine" scent to it... Air purification is what i'm after.

My build is supposedly the first decade of June. That would make delivery sometime in late June or early July.

Nice build ^^^

Family hauler forum

I suppose. The preferred vehicle of suburban 5'1" soccer moms/wives of your favorite city

Oh well, a great SUV regardless. Back to the fun of Rennlist.
