I think high 11's are right around the corner if not already possible with some drag radials and slightly better track conditions. Very impressive. If you ever get a minute could you drop me a PM about your torque converter modification. Wondering if this is something I could look into as well. |

Why do Vipers scare the hell outta me on the street. Maybe it's the mile wide tires and the rumble. Everytime I chicken out, someone here posts up another Viper kill story.

Whatever, Vipers aren't scary at all. Just a frame with an engine. If you want to be scared, get scared of a car that has engineering to it.

..........I am actually not happy at all with my run. I've run high 11.9's with this car @117mph. I am trying to put the finishing touches to the car with the latest mods and it looks like I need to do some re-tunning. My point is that the Viper was not even a problem, I am looking for bigger fish to fry. What is the 1/4 mile numbers for a stock viper anyway? The only way the viper will be a problem is if it is a mid 11sec car stock.

What year viper was it? A 12.6 is not good for a viper except a 95 or older genration I. Ted, I will have a viper pretty soon and it will be a generation II, but it will NOT be stock. N/A of course but still not stock and not heavily modded. I would like to give your E a run. Matter of fact MPH, a mustang tuner is having a huge track day in november if you wanna go. I'll have my TT vette there and should have the Viper by then.
Also what kinda tires were you running? I ran a Kleeman E55 in my twin turbo vette a few months ago. I was running on 19's and 20's and got one good launch in 2.0 60' and ran 11.5 the other times I spun and ran 12.2 and then bogged and ran 12.8. Not putting my Dr's on until I get a built rear end. But anyways let me know what you wanna race and I can arrange it. Jenk has an M6, slightly modded Z06's and one cammed Z06 (both C6's of course) several high power cobras, and maybe a saleen extreme by jenk as well. BTW was this at commerce? Commerce sucks for prep. If it was and you were running stock tires I dont know how you got any traction. If it was at silverdollar then I can see otherwise, their prep is usually pretty good. Anywho, a stock genII Viper with a decent driver should run mid 11s at around 119 with only a cat back exhaust and k&n filter set up. A bone stock SRT10 should run hig 11s all day at around 117. So the driver of the Viper in question did indeed suck, or it was an older genI Viper. ![]() I stand correct about the post, I had not seen how busy our little getbit had been. ps. to getbit, soccer still sucks, heh heh heh.

According to C&D, the '03 - 06 Viper SRT-10 does the 1/4 mile in 12.1 seconds so stock for stock, couldn't a good launch from the E55 handle an SRT10 if the guy in the Viper wasn't that great of a driver? The few races I've been in with my C55, when it counted anyway, the other guy driving stick usually screwed something up and I walked away. So IMO, I think it's more impressive that our sedan can hang with a Viper. I think many people, if given the chance to see an E55 and a Viper race, would be saying, "Whoa! Did you see that Benz almost beat that Viper!?" "That thing's pretty fast!" As they expect the Viper do be fast.

..........I think 12.1 sec stock in the 1/4 mile is pretty fast. So those vipers are quick. I've run many 12.0's and 11.9's in my car so this again is not a big event. Below is one of my 11.9 rus at the same track on dragtimes. This was last year before the stall coverter so I was expecting to be faster. No big cross forum rivalry neccessary. My point is that either there is something seriously wrong with my car now or the track sucked this time as evidenced by the viper"s times. My car beating a stock viperis not news although I have learned from this thread that the competition will ordinarily be expected to be stronger. I have elected not to read the stuff on the viper forum because I don't think people generally understand what our cars can do.http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...slip-7222.html

You can definitely make an E55 a quick little car, but vipers are the ULTIMATE in street speed potential. If anyone wants to test the theory, come to our event in December (Sarasota FL). I'll make an exception to the rules just for you guys to come show your stuff. I'm sure you will have a fun time lining up against our little snakes that are under engineered.

E55's will be no match for modded Viper. Its a sedan with only 5.5L and a kompresor and weights over 4100 + lbs.
But give credit that a Sedan can pull those times. M5's can do it as well, but they can't acheive those low ETA's, but their trap speeds trump the E55 and the Viper (is some occasions) M6's trap speed is insane for a stock car. 65's will be a better fight, (modded vs modded) but then the tunning potential of the viper and the weight will be hard to beat. But, I would still take the Z06 if I had the extra $80k.

The 55 is a very capable car, but showing a stock viper (driven by a squid) getting beat by a modded Merc is not really apples to apples is it? Before you go getting your MB panties in wad, here is my old Cruiser at the track...
http://www.garyjavo.com/videos/2005%...11.7CLPASS.wmv I appreciate these cars for what they are, but to start talking **** about Vipers not having any engineering to them is arrogant at best.

I will let you know when my buddy who owns a stock 99 R/T and I get a clean run. He punched it in 2nd and I floored it. It looked as if he might of started to pull me on the high side but he missed 3rd. We will get it on again sometime I am sure of it. We are both bone stock. Stock tire for stock tire I think the E55 will get the VIPER on a UNPREPPED track.

Modded E55 is a sleeeper and that makes everything even more FUN
The funny thing is that I also beat beat 2000 Viper with SS ehxaust and C6 ZO6 and highly moded RX7 with my E55 which only has Headers at local night racing in 1/4 on a highway...Viper would only start to pull on ME after 1/4 mark passed... Those Viper and Corvette owners got big surprise cause at 1st they werent taking ME seriously and organizers did even wanted to put ME in line with those cars...cause they thought its not our league... The crowd where lauching and shouting "Viper will beat everyone", "RX7 will kill them all", "Corvette is the fastest"...and then they got big SUPPRISE when I spanked all those car 3 times in ROW ...ITs was FUN, you shoould have seen the faces of all those Vettes and VIpers owners
