Bikes can be defeated. Here is a little Pcar (Alex's) putting bus lenghts on a

I know this has been dug up from the grave, but I had to post. A 1200R is not a sport bike in the modern sense. Yeah, it's 1200 cc's and not a Harley, but that's about as close as it gets. I had a 2000 ZX-12R a few years ago and I can tell you flat out that you'd better be trapping 140+ to keep up with it from a roll. I was a terrible rider(and 290 pounds) and I still managed a 10.86 @ 134 with a horrible launch. I got smoked to the 330 foot mark by regular cars every time and then just poured on the coals once I was in 2nd gear.
Most of the stock 600's at the track were running high 11's at 120ish. There was a guy with a 2006 R6 that was stretched about 10" and lowered who was running 11.0's. Launching a bike quickly is very difficult, and with tons of power(1000 cc's and above) and a stock wheelbase you have to be very judicial with clutch and throttle management, especially if you are light. I weighed twice as much as some guys, and even hunched over the tank with my head out over the front wheel the bike would power-wheelie from a roll in first gear as soon as the tach hit 8k.
From a freeway roll it's much easier. The 12R had tons of torque everywhere, but if you're one gear off in a 600 from a roll you may as well pack it up and head home. I really hope some of you who haven't ridden bikes get a chance to safely ride a sportbike some day. It's a truly awesome experience and will really open your eyes. Whatever you do, DO NOT hop on a literbike and give it full throttle. It took me two months before I felt comfortable enought to really start playing with the power.
Not my video, but this will give you a sense of how these things can accelerate. Part throttle in first gear then WOT.

Well, simple answer here guys is also physics. Power and weight. I am an avid road cyclist (bicycle) and have raced a bit with friends who race a lot. I was at my best 188 lbs in the summer, they all weighed between 150-155 lbs. Downhills and on flats I could keep up, short pop hills I had plenty of power to pass at least one of the guys and keep up with the fastest guy, going UP any sort of hill it was game over. Poundage going uphill requires so much more power than the weight difference would imply.
Hence, even a moderately fast street bike that only weighs 400 lbs is gonna beat most any of the fastest cars that weigh ten times the amount but dont have ten times the power. A 4000 lb car would need to have 1400 hp to run like a 400 lb bike with 140 hp. Also, at night, 2 wheels v 4 wheels, the guy on the bike is thinking about road cracks, ruts, potholes, anything that can make him crash.

This is true, but don't forget about the weight of the rider, fuel, oil, coolant, gear, etc.... At the end of the day that horsepower has to push around more like 600 pounds. Plus that 140 horsepower(if it's even that much from a 600) is generated well north of 40 mph depending on gearing, so from a dig it comes down to the rider. I know some of the new 600's are pretty light, but my 12R was over 800 pound with me on it, and I'm guessing the Hayabusa/ZX-14 weigh in around 500 empty.

I used to dawg GIXXERS all the time in my single-turbo 3rd Gen RX7. At about 150, aerodynamics and the *****-factor seem to get in their way. If they tried drafting me, a lane change or two seems to distort their "window". LOL!

It's odd how nobody mentions drag on a bike vs. a car. Down low, a bike has a big launch advantage but as speed increases to, say ~ 70 mph, physics work against a bike in a significant way....pushing air out of the way as speed escalates on a "dirty" Cd (ie bike w/rider) becomes almost exponentially difficult.

If any of the guys who say their AMGs can smoke 600cc bikes, I ride a bone-stock 03 600RR in street trim (even the big ol' OEM turn signals and tool kit) and will gladly run you for some cash and laughs, no problem. VIR? Summit Point? Drag strips? Road course or drag strip, let's do it. I'll even run street rubber. And if you have an AMG Black series or SLS, I will pull out the 06 GSXR1K and we will play with that.

Smoking a 600 from a roll is no big deal, if you're doing about 80+ mph it's easy to pull on them... from a dig up to 50-60 its not possible...
My cousin owns an 05 R6 and I pull on him all day long...from a dig he gets me pretty bad...so all of these people saying it's not possible....why don't you get out there and try it and then come back and talk smack ;-)

Nice Kill! I will say no more because everytime I talk about racing bikes I get flamed. Even if the E55 won't "beat" a bike, it's got to be impressive that a 4 door "grocery getter" will "hang."
As for a car possibly having an advantage from the dig...here's a link to a video showing a mid-11 sec. Cobra (I know the owner) vs. a Gixxer 750. There are a few mid-11 sec. E55's out there.

So how do you know the owner?... Tatata. Let him know his brother owns him!

I've raced two Yamaha R6's. The 05 R6 that my friend rode absolutely destroyed me. I mean I hung there, but they just walk away so fast.
But, and here is the big BUTT!
Another Yamaha R6 I raced with what I describe as a "squid" rider, on a newer R6. He was wearing sunglasses, no helmet (AZ only requires your eyes covered,) flip flops and cargo shorts!
This guy revved at me, probably to show off next to my wife sitting next to me in the E63.
Light turns green and I romp my fastest 12.7 seconds I can lol. This guy was left after each shift. I've never seen slower shifts on a bike in my life.
I slow down after changing into 4th from top of 3rd and he catches up and asks "wtf is in that thing?"
I just smugly reply "stock 6.2."
And my E63 wasn't even that fast. The fastest time I put was a 12.735 at Sacramento on worn PS2's my first time ever on a strip. Compared to the guys who brought the E55's and decent tires I looked like a chump. I think one guy broke 10.9 that night with a black E55 on slicks.
