Subaru Family Sedan Beats E550
Me and my buddy with an E550 were out for a cruise the other day when we decided to excise out cars a little. I was driving my 2005 Legacy GT which is currently full bolt ons and E85 and he was in his mostly stock 2007 E550 4matic. From about a 45 or 50 roll to around 90 or 100 we ran each time with the Legacy pulling about half a car on the E550. I was a little surprised that my car was able to pull at all, especially up top where Subarus are notoriously weak. However, my win can probably be attributed mostly to the fact that my car is turbocharged and his is NA and we're at over 5300' in elevation. None the less I was quite pleased with my kill.

You forgot to mention the attractive girls in the yellow VW that gave us the thumbs up, and later stared me down because of the class and elegance dripping from my E550, while your E55 was at home. Compared to the Subaru, the women told me the E550 was worlds ahead. They didn't "tell" me that per say, but their look said it all.
I was quite please with my woman killer (not actual killer of women) story.

Hahahahhahaha yes a kill story against the car brand of the forum he joined, and unfortunately Lemon it did happen. According to direct ECU readings from DashCommand (not sure how accurate) the E550 makes about 301hp up here at 5900ft, or a little over 20% loss which is what I'd expect.

So basically from what I gather from all of this we have a light weight tuned inexpensive Subaru with AWD beating a stock AWD heavy V8 powered luxury sedan at a high elevation?
And this is a major deal why?
Oh well lol. At least you went home in comfort

Personally, I think Subarus are obnoxious and among the worst sounding cars out on the roads. Very boat-like, yes. But there's a loyal following for them, God knows why. I did like his old Legacy though when it came to exhaust, it backfired and crackled a lot.
I'm in the camp of people that dislikes pure muscle car sound, dislikes Japanese ricer and tuner car sound, but I like deep European V8s such as AMGs and higher-pitched exotics like Ferraris. Gotta admit I love the sound of the f-type as well (reminds me of the new Mercedes-AMG GT)
