Pedal value sensor/purge control valve
Here is a question, in regard to my CEL coming on when the idle dropped in "Drive" at a stop sign. The cable connected to the pedal value sensor is adjustable at the sensor. If a person was to bump it and turn it a tiny bit, would it be enough to affect the idle, maing it go down to far, sending a CEL, or is it not that critical of an adjustment? Also, what is the adjustment at the cable supposed to be? There is a stop built into it, so is it supposed to just just the mating surface, or is this all calibrated with a diagnostic unit?
After changing my crank sensor last week, the next day I started getting the CEL, codes 170, 173. Thinking it was the MAF. But as I recall, reaching in to change the crank sensor, I also pushed on this cable as well a bit, during the other sensor install. My point is, could it have been just on the edge of being out of adjustment, and bumping it made my idle drop down to much? I put about 1/16 of a turn on the cable, more tension on it,last night and haven't pulled a code all day driving. Or, is it coincedence and the CEL will hit again any time?

Thats my thought as well, it should have nothing to do with those codes. Only thing I could think of was the idle dropping too much for that split second, causing a sudden rich value sent and tripping it. I have a new MAF, should be here in an hour or so and will just drive it for a day or until I get another CEL, and change the MAF. It was just a crap shoot as to what has happened since the way it's been sending codes this week, I was thinking I would get one by now was all. Before I change it, I was thinking of trying to clean the old one (since I have a spare new one) Been reading about methods used to clean the wire, epsecially on Porsche 928's
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Went for another drive.....CEL finally came back at a stoplight. Will change out the MAF tonight.

once you change it out you need to have the adaption values reset. VERY IMPORTANT!! otherwise the codes may come back. The engine needs to start with a clean slate. You may also have driveabilty issues if not. Your local dealer can do it. It will take all of 5 min

I kept the old one, and installed the new. All issues are gone now and my ML runs great!
I will clean the old one and store it same as the new arrived, in case down the road....who knows? On the old one, I noticed a small film of off white residue on the black plastic to the side of the wires. Maybe thats all that was screwing it up, letting it run fine and all, just dirty? Whatever, I am happy this is over with finally!
Thanks again for all the support.
