Hi there Folks,
I just picked up a used ML500. Wasn't really looking for one but i got it dirt cheap and couldn't resist the prestige of a benz. Anyways...

Since driving it around town for the last week i've been noticing a buzzing or whining sound coming from the rear. This occurs when i'm giving it gas usual past 40+ mph and will stop when i let off the gas. Any ideas??

also, cruising around the forums i've read about this "Harmonic Balancer" recall. If soomeone could chime in on what this is all about i'de great appreciate it.

its the fuel pump, I just got mine replaced a few weeks back

And the balancer recall is specific to a particular series of VINs, unless you visibly see the thing coming apart. MB sent letters to affected owners. However, since you're not the original owner, take it to your dealer and ask.

I paid 98.00 for diagnosis at fletcher jones Mercedes of Newprt Beach and they also said it was the fuel pump. took them 2 days to do an hours work and they stole my son's PSP from the glove box!! FJ Mercedes says, "Too Bad" can't do anything about it. PISSED!! so i issued a charge back on my Credit card, too bad it was only for 98.00.

I have the fuel pump on the way along with a few motor and transmission mounts. I've been getting a slipping action when slowing down to a comlete stop, PRAYING its not the tranny!! hence the mounts.

once these are taken care of, i'll be dealing with a very slight tremor in the engine at idle. found a bad Ignition wire but wasn't the cause. Hoping its also related to the motor mounts.
