No start with a code P0341 - Camshaft Position Sensor
This issue has me stumped.
ML430 - 2001
Went to lunch yesterday and came out and the car would turn over but not start. I got the codes read: P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 or Single Sensor
Mis-read this for the crank shaft sensor (previously had this so made the assumption). Clearly replacing the crank shaft sensor did not resolve the issue.
I have now replaced the Camshaft sensor on bank 1 - nice and simple but no change. Still get the error code and the car only cranks.
Checked spark and I am getting gas.
I have found one reference stating the depth of the sensor is critical but I have not been able to confirm this.
Unsure if this code is the actual issue or if I need to look some where else.
Assistance is greatly appreciated!

How did you check spark and gas? Because if the engine cranks but doesn't fire, one of them must be missing.
P0431 is not a valid MB code. CMP sensor code is P0341. Accuracy is important when describing codes.
Generic OBD2 code P0431 refers to warm up catalyst bank 2, which shouldn't cause no-start.

You are correct in that I fat fingered the code as I typed it in here. Codes are read via iPad using DashCmd application and a wifi adapter to the OBD-II interface. This reads not only the code but the text equiv. This has been a very solid tool.
Gas - connected to the rail and tested pressure during starting. Went from 0 to 55psi. - also opened the test point to physically see gas flowing. This is the test point almost directly above the CPS sensor.
Spark - old fashion method - timing light connected to spark plug wire.

Download the engine 113 diagnostic manual --> http://mercedes-bulgaria.com/Downloa...gine%20113.pdf
Refer to pages 11/17, 11/43, 24/8, 24/16 and 24/17.
Your problem comes down to the wiring to the sensor and the connector, assuming that the new CMP sensor you installed is good.
Without the correct signal from this sensor, the ECM won't allow fuel past the injectors. Even if you have fuel pressure at the rail, there's none getting into the cylinders until you fix this.
