Should I enter the M-class?

Hey, new here. Was looking to find out more about reliability of the 2005 ML350 in particular. Huge Jeep fan so I know very little about Benz. Currently have a 2011 Chevy HHR that is a nightmare and looking to just get another car to last me for like 2 years. My aunt is the original owner of a 25 year old 560SL which was her DD until she got a versa like 2 years ago, the 560SL has been amazingly reliable and better than the nissan so I'm looking at Benz.

Found a 2005 350ML for $7,500 , V6, 100k miles. Has options for bluetooth and gps but it needs to be installed. Looks really nice.
I'm already used to expensive as hell oil changes, bad gas mileage, and electrical gremlins with my Chevy. I heard bad things about the 90s MLs but how reliable is the 2005, were a lot of the bugs worked out? Basically if I get this car I'm taking all the money that I'd get for my Chevy and buy the ML so I don't have much room for costly repairs. Costly being over $500. How likely am I to run into big problems over the next 15k miles? I know the brakes will have to be changed. Not one of those people who cares if electrical gadgets such as cruise control, ABS, heated seats, ect. stop working unless it prevents me from driving the car.

Also, I test drove this ML and I pressed the Low Range just to see if it works and I think I turned it off. I parked it, turned it off, and then a few minutes later started it it again and Low Range flashed a few times then turned off. I read somewhere that it indicated a problem, is that true?

Your first question about what problems you will encounter in the next 15k miles is impossible to say as no one knows the history of the truck.

As for the Low Range now blinking, it all depends on when you pressed that button, which you don't say.
