transmission leak???

My ml320 is leaking alot of trans fluid... ive been putting it in a couple times a week just to get around.. but i noticed today that the fluid looks like its leaking out before it gets to the transmission itself. The fluid looks unused.. i guess i just really need someone to tell me the name of the part thats leaking..its a line that has a plastic white piece connected to a rubber ribbed looking piece.. the. The rest is hose. I have a picture just don't know how to post it... thanks

You are going to damage your tranny. How would you know the Tranny oil level? Do you have a dipstick? Are you sure its Tranny fluid?
You can post a picture by pressing manage attachments & point were the photo is & upload.

Please refer to this link http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w163...ml#post3635948 for photo procedure.

You must first order the boot, O-ring, pan gasket, trans filter and 5 qts. of trans. oil from the dealer. You will also need a trans. dip stick to be precise on the fluid level.

Then drain the trans. fluid and drop the pan and filter. Then from the inside push the push the pin to the outside so the boot can be removed. It will be up to you to keep track of how all parts were originally.

You are warned that if you continue to drive your truck you will burn that trans. up.

I just replaced gasket on the transmission pan no more than six months ago. Are you a hundred percent sure? Just don't want to do all those things without really knowing.

Thanks for your help

Well, how am I supposed to know you replaced the gasket 6 mos. ago?

You can eliminate any step or all of the steps if you want.

You do not have to do the gasket or filter if you did it 6 mos. ago.

You posted a photo of where the leak is coming from (post#4). Part #45 is the part that is faulty. The tiny O-ring should be replaced after you push the pin out so it doesn't leak when you put it back in.

The ML transmission does not have a built in trans. dipstick. So you must buy the correct one so you are sure that there isn't too little or too much.

Is part number forty five the transmission boot? I replaced only the gasket wasnt aware the filter should be changed with the gasket.

Should i just do everything or can i replace the filter and not the gasket

Part #45 is the linkage & #145 is the O-ring. You need both.
Changing the gasket & the filter will cost you very little. But if you are sure the gasket is new then change the filter.
