The dreaded BAS/ESP light...

Just bought the car a week ago. Had some shaking going on beginning at 35mph, so I had the left tie rod replaced and tires balanced. Smooth now. I have the dreaded BAS/ESP light on and off. I've tried a few tricks, turn the wheel max left and max right, didn't work. Replaced brake light switch, worked for a day, light came back on. When the BAS light comes on, the car hesitates during take off from a stop, and lurches. Sometimes won't shift out of 1st gear and I'll have to pull over to restart the car, and it will go away until I hit 35mph again. I do need the brakes replaced and an alignment done. Could the brakes and alignment being off trigger the BAS/ESP light? Could I have installed the brake light switch incorrectly?

Yes you could have. Hopefully you purchased the switch from the dealer because there was a recall on the old ones.

Remove the present BLS and follow the directions.
