2003 ML500 - coolant leak from back of the engine
Hello all,
I just picked up a 2003 ML500 for cheap due to a few issues.
The biggest concern is that the car has a significant coolant leak. The leak is coming from the back of the engine on the passenger side. Any ideas of what it could be?
Any recommendations for a side mechanic in the San Diego/mission beach area?

It could be the overflow pipe. When you overfill the coolant tank the extra coolant gets pushed out from the overflow pipe which is on the right side.
It could be a broken/cracked hose.
You must locate the exact location of the leak

Yeah, a cracked hose or even cracked expansion tank was my thought.
I don't think it's the overflow hose.
Does the M113 engine have anything else that could leak in the back? Does it have a "valley pan" gasket?

LOL. Good observation.
I actually have a 335i with mods. Picked up the ML500 because I practically got it for free and wanted a "beach car."
When the warranty on the 335i is up, I want to get back into an SL.
I actually had asked for a username change but it was never granted.
