2002 ML 500 not starting
I drove to the store yesterday no problems locked the car came back about 20 min later and my car wouldn't start, I turn the key and turns over but never starts , from what I have read its the crankshaft position sensor .
SO I hooked up my OBD II reader and used my phone with torque to see what errors it would spit up
One said Oxygen sensor low voltage
second one said secondary air injection system
I knew I had a bad O2 sensor but when I wanted to get it replaced my mechanic that I no longer use told me my cat was stopped up 15% and that's why he wouldn't change the sensor.
could my cat be plugged up and cause my car just to turn over and not start?

Clogged CAT wont prevent the car from starting. It will start , but you will have bad misfires.........
You have 2 options : get a indie with a pro level scanner & scan the car or replace the CKP sensor & hope that it is the reason the car doesn't start.
You cant beat this price

This is the sensor for 2002 ML500

If it is the fuel pump, you can buy it yourself & install it.

The standard labor hours should be around 2.2. Anything over 3 hrs is a blatant rip-off and should be responded to with flat-bedding your ML out of there. Pay for diagnosis only, and never darken their doorstep again. The dealer thinks he has you over a barrel because your ML won't start.
Do I have to replace fuel lines too when this is done MB has a filer for 120 and 2 fuel lines for 56 on the estimate.

Filter would be worth replacing, but new fuel lines are unnecessary. That would be a bigger job that could add up to 4+ hours. Filter adds 1.4 hrs according to that guide, so 3.6 hrs plus diagnosis would be fair, if you pass on the fuel lines.

DrX, I think they are trying to "sell" upgraded fuel lines for the new filter(the 3 lines), as if the ML500 has the old small filter..........Fuel pump+3 new upgraded fuel lines+ fuel filter.......
If the OP doesn't know these details, the dealer can easily charge him for nothing.........

If I had said yes to everything my dealer thought would be a good idea to replace, I would have spent an extra $2000 on new torsion bars, torsion bar bushes, engine & trans mounts, brake pads & rotors (probably 2 extra sets by now, over what I've currently used), and the plastic trim panel on the side of my seat.
Art, I think they are trying to sell new parts and labour to replace ones that aren't faulty.

OK so today I get my ML back from Mercedes and even though I told them not to install the fuel lines they did anyway , what kind of bs is that ? when I had the invoiced emailed to me there was a not attached . I had them in stall the lines but I discounted them for you. So instead if them cost me $34 they are $24 . Any advice on how to proceed ?

I don't know what the hell they are trying to pull.......Check the links I posted. Replacing fuel lines means ALL 3 lines below have been changed. 2002ML's don't need these pipes changed(unless they are damaged), these are for older ML's.
Check the prices(One needs all 3).....There is no way on earth changing these pipes + labour cost is $ 24-00
