Normally I turn key and let go; now she just cranks for a few secs and no start.
If I leave the key on (run position) for 5-7 secs, then go to 'start' position, usually starts every time
CEL showed CPS; changed it (bosch)
still throw code, and is slow to start.
I'm thinking filter/FPR ?
Does not 'die' at highway speeds; so no starvation?
Fuel pump?
Sun spot activity?

That's more good info, if it cranks then it's not the break switch. Sin're using the key to turn the ignition it's not the key failing to communicate with the car. I would say since if you leave the ignition "on" for a short while and the try again and it starts it is the fuel pump, regulator or filter. When the ignition is "on" for that little while fuel pressure is building up andathen when you try it again the car starts. If you are under warranty it's time to try your dealer and let them fix it. The can check fuel pressure and components.
