Hoping for help determining if a used mcs will work for me
Hi all,
I have an 02 ml500 w/bose (nav and changer). mcs is no longer pulsing signals from via fiber optics socket and have no sound and not recognizing changer. I have read extensively and almost went for an aftermarket upgrade, but my wife just doesnt care about all the bells and whistles, and Id rather not go through the amp bypass and losing sound quality, or replacing the amp. Have a line on a used one for $150. The seller says the part number is A1638200279, model number NV4BN11Z. My non functioning unit is part number A1638203186, model number NV4BN012. Can anyone tell me about compatability or what I might be getting into with this unit?
Thanks in advance!

In my experience, one MCS1 is interchangeable with another. Some have the satellite radio button, and others do not. Unless you have an integrated Sirius module, it shouldn't matter. I swapped my '03 model out for an' 05 because it had DVD navigation installed.
