Here we go again -but... BFG vs Cooper
Greetings all.
I know this question gets asked - AT LOT. But finding a good answer hasn't been easy in my search.
So this is for my ML 500.
I've narrowed my choice down to two tyres. Number of factors like price and availability down here in New Zealand means it's between the BFG AT KO2 and the Cooper ST Maxx. Both in the 265/70r17 size.
I also have a G Wagen that is equipped with BGF MTs, so basically the ML will be used for lighter off road work/towing the boat because the G will take me places that the ML won't.
We live in the Southern Alps so extremes of weather every year. Some days driving the children to school in 30 degrees C plus and other days 30 degrees F :-). Snow in winter and New Zealand's very aggressive tar roads in the heat of summer. Our roads are nasty on tyres - sorry tires lol. Manufactures do a lot of testing down in the Southern parts of NZ.
I use to have BFG KOs on a G Wagen. So know them well enough, but have heard that the KO2s are a larger improvement. I have never used nor know anyone who has used the Cooper tyres. The shops down here are really pushing the Coopers. They are around NZ$100 more expensive per tyre too.
SO if anyone can offer some advice that would be awesome!
And sorry for asking a question that has probably been asked a million times...
Thanks
Sean

The correct tyre size for your car is 275/55/17.
I have used Cooper before. They are in par with BFG. Its not worth paying more for Coopers.

Thanks - and yes I know the factory tyre size :-) But I'm wanting to run taller tyres as I'll be off road a fair bit with the ML.
