Recently obtained my 2001 ML320 with nearly 150k miles on it and have been slowly repairing in for the past 3-4 months. Currently it is having problems sometimes stalling at higher speeds (40-50 mph) and while going in reverse out of the driveway. Car completely dies with no dash lights on, no power-steering, etc.

Parts that have been replaced:
-MAF
-CPS
-FUEL FILTER
-Valve Body Conductor plate
-TCM
-SPEED SENSOR
- 2 new CATS

This car has had a good amount of problems, just wanna have it drive-able again.

Planning on replacing the battery and the air filter soon as well.

Any ideas on what must be replaced, because im all out, all of the part that have been replaced have less than a 100 miles together.

check the battery cables from end to end..might be a grounding problem

Have considered investing in an iCarSoft i980 type diagonistic tool? It can be purchased off Jet.com for around $90...and it is of big help troubleshooting these aging MLs..

I just resolved a mystery BAS/ETS ESP intermittent lights problem using this diagnostic tool on my 206K miles/2000 ML320...

Reading the individual CU fault codes proves to be invaluable in understanding what could be the problem...
