ML430 Rear driver side door issue
Hi, I am not able to manually or with the remote to unlock the rear driver side door in order to open it on my W163 ML430 2001.
When I pull up on the unlock tab, it has a lot of resistance and it will not reach the unlock position.
Can the door panel be removed from the inside while the door is locked to allow access to the cables to manually access the mechanism?
I have replaced the lock mechanism in Dec 2015 and it had worked without any issues until now.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you, I removed connection to battery, waited about 3 min., reconnected.... all the other doors lock and unlock... the rear driver does nothing, no sound...
I also tried to pull on the outside and inside handle at the same time... no change.

That was the first thing I did, but nothing.
I took a pair of pliers and while pulling on the tab and the inside handle I was able to get it open.
While outside if the door, I tried to move the lock/unlock tab and it kept going back to lock position.
I kept the older unit and swapped the entire motor housing and it is working now.
Thank you for your help.

You really don't have much choice........your going to have to get the clips pulled out somehow. Even if it means drilling a small hole on the bottom and inserting something to pull. ( with the door closed there is not much room to insert a tool )
Before that, keep trying to work the button up/down while electronically cycling it.....and with the door handle pulled.
Hopefully you can get lucky with some combo to release it. Good luck
