2004 ml350 shifter won't work
so i have this 2004 ml350 in the shop that i can't shift out of park unless i use the neutral safety switch. this model doesn't have the brake light switch and the fuses are fine. i already tried replacing the whole shifter and that didn't work. any ideas? I'm about to chase the whole electrical wire.

With the key on, do the three brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal?
Also check fuses #15, 16 & 22 in the underhood fuse/relay box.
What neutral safety switch, where is it located? Explain.

the brake lights work and i did check all the fuses. the neutral safety switch is that little flap located on the shifter that you can shove a screw driver down and then you can change the gears freely. I'm going to check the fuses again.

Go to the elec. connector at the shifter and with a test light or DVOM, check the following wires:
#4 BROWN for GROUND
#8 BLUE for 12v
#9 GREY for 12v
