A/C compressor replacement how to?
Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster.
The time has come to replace my ML500s compressor and have been unable to turn up a howto anywhere. I have found the R&I Receiver-Drier pdf but was hoping someone could point me to some info on the A/C Compressor as well, or is that pretty straight forward? I'm about to crawl under the thing and get going. Also, any special tools required for this job?
Thanks in advance!

It's not an easy job as it's hard to get to. The worst part was actually getting the belt back on. You need a special socket for the tensioner pulley and I doubt you have it in your toolbox. It's was some kind of tamper-proof bolt. I found the socket at Napa.

It's certainly an aggravating job! There is a good youtube video. Remove the Windshield washer bottle first. That opens up a whole new view. If your Power Steering is leaking now is a good time to replace that. It make this entire job easier and a cleaner repair. Be sure you need to replace the compressor. I replaced mine (after much reading and advise)and it is not the problem. Still something electrical going on, From more research its looking like one of the control modules.
