Idler/Tensioner Pulley

Does anyone know where to get a GOOD replacement pulley? Does any manufacturer make a good METAL pulley wheel?
Thanx!

Which one are you changing, the Idler Pulley or the tensioner? And NO they are all plastic.

I had the idler pulley disintegrate on me a few days ago. The belt flew off and the ML quickly started to overheat! I caught it right away and stopped the car. It did steam a little but being 26 degrees out it cooled down quickly! Luckily, I was close to a parts store who had one left and I was able to fix it in a parking lot. I had a spare belt in the car. When i purchased the new pulley, it just seemed pretty cheaply made which got me wondering if a good aluminum wheel could be had. As the idler and tensioner pulley are identical, i think i may look into making a couple on a CNC machine. I'd rather not have this happen again.

It's not the pulley wheel that fails, it's the bearing that fails.

That upper idler is notorious for chewing up belts and spitting them out. I've seen some spectacular failures on those.
