06 ML350 Grinding Noise When Driving

MBWorld Fanatic!
Btw Greg it turned out great.
The Polish KLM503349 was completely fried on both sides.
$500 + the bearings and it's wonderful to drive without all that noise.
Working on the other problems that keep cropping up on this 'truck'.
Still need to post some pics of the bad bearings. I would never put the same crappy Polish bearings in to replace the ones that broke in the 1st place.
Half the rollers are missing....lucky the thing didn't seize.

Front end noises on a w163
Hi guys and girls thought i had a front wheel bearing issue on my 02 ML 320. It gave off some of the hallmarks you would expect in some of the older 60',70's and 80's models . After putting the beast on the rack we discovered the torsion bar bushes just needed a bit of grease. Something to check before spending hard earned dollars on unscrupulous mechanics. Hope this helps ease some headaches.

Update on this noise
How did you end up going with this problem?
My ML has started making a metal on metal grinding noise. Appears to be coming from the left side and i've noticed that I can only hear it when going straight ahead or turning right. Turning left makes the noise go away.
Only noticeable at low speeds and there is no vibration or other noises, even on the freeway, so I don't think its the front diff. I had the diff oil done 8000 klms ago as well and there were no filings in it.
My guess is a left hand front wheel bearing or disc dust sheild rubbing.
Car is it at Benz tomorrow so I hope they can find it.
