Last time I changed my oil in the 2007 ML I was in a bit of a hurry....I have used the fine instructions below on how to set the o-rings on the filter tower. When I put the rings on the filter tower I pushed it all the way to the top AND not in its proper slot. I then hoppped on a plane to work. My wife called me the next day saying she had an oil light and smelled oil. In addition, there was a massive puddle of oil on the garage floor. I had the local MB dealer trailer the car there, clean out the underside, change the oil and proper replace the filter...I won't go into the expense as Im even scared to talk about it... So Im getting ready to change the oil again...there is a sale on Mobil1 at the local auto part store...while the link below is great any other pics of the filter tower or oil changing tips would be welcome... ..as well as any old adages to boost confidence; hop back on the horse that threw you, etc. http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...oilchange.html

Just take your time and double check as you go. The instructions are informative. Remember to lube the O rings.

I usually go to the one up the street...their flyer is offering 5 quart container for $32.

0W40 isn't available in the 5qt container. Of course, I am guessing you have one of the gas engines.

Neither is Formula M 5w-40 ESP. Possibly used the wrong oil?

Local autozone had this deal and allowed me to purchase 5 one qt bottles of 0w-40 European Car Formula and a Mobil 1 filter for total $36. It's the right oil. I bought a filter to fit my son's Subaru. Couldn't turn down $6-7/qt!
