Brake Pad Wear Sensors on ML

40K Service then Brake Message
So, I just had my 40k service done on my 2012 ML350 and then 6 days later the message comes up on the center display that I need to check my brake wear. I call the tech rep that I had the vehicle in with (that cost me $1k to do the 40k service) and he says, yeah we checked the brakes that they are at 30%, the message should not signal until 15%. Well, I'll bring it back to them tomorrow to see what they say, but 1 week of driving should not kill the brakes, one would think . I did not hammer on the brakes and drive like a madman during that time, just to and from work like always. So, it will be interesting to see what they say and what money they try to get out of me.

I am going to purchase the pads (front and back) and the sensors from the MB Dealer for a 2010 ML 350, have someone else put them on. one guy tells me to also do the rotors, because down the road i may get a pulsating vibration... is this nescessary to do the rotors?
also the brake light has not come on, but i heard a sqeak the other day, so im thinking i may only need pads. Please advise me...
thanks

I'd ask the M-B dealer's parts department and service department for a price quote before giving anyone money. Sometimes the dealer will pleasantly surprise you.
The dealer will probably insist on replacing the rotors. I would only replace if needed. Dealer will probably also insist on flushing the brake fluid. This is a mandated service item every 2 years so perhaps just wait until then.
According to AllData there are two different front rotors. Guessing one is the AMG M63. New front rotors should be either 32mm or 36mm thick. Usable limits are 29.4 and 33.4, respectively. But if less than 30 or 34 when off for service then they should be replaced.
There are 3 rotors for the rear. New 14mm (thats what my ML320 has), 22mm (guessing an ML500), and 26mm (for 164.177). Service limits are 11.4, 19.4, and 23.4, but replace if found less than 12, 20, or 24 mm.
Don't worry about having calipers to measure, its not that critical. Use a ruler or wrench. If a 12mm wrench fits over the thickness of the rear rotor then replace the rotor.
Guessing the rotors also differ in diameter for specific models but that wasn't listed. Nor were P/N's.
Brakes are relatively easy items to service. If you have never done it before usually pizza and beer will lure someone experienced (with tools) to show you how.
