Looking for License Plate LEDs

Hey,

Is anyone running LEDs in their license plates that don't throw errors on the dash?

I tried AZN Optics twice, iJDMtoy once, and Philips LED and no luck.

DO NOT buy them from carpartslights.com. Jack, the owner, makes out like he is a USA vendor. He is in China (20 days to receive the bulbs). To top it off, they throw error codes. Look great on the car, but started smelling hot - and I cannot tolerate the error codes. Mine is a 2011, Diamond white - the LED light looks so nice...

From what I understand, 2009 through 2011 ML's are different and will throw error codes. Please let me know if you find some good ones!

Mike @ AZNOptics told me its a problem from 08-11. I think I'll end up going with some MTEC or PIAA incandescent 194 bulbs. Their not as white as LED, but miles better than the stock Sylvania and G.E stuff with no errors.

Thanks for the update. Where can you purchase the MTEC or PIAA bulbs? Advanced Auto Parts or a specialty store?

My local tuner shops stock them. You could probably find them on eBay as well.

Bought these which according to the truthful chinese seller were 5W each.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2x-sh...039310911.html

Well as I expected - they weren't. They are around 2W each and they still throw error codes. They don't throw an error if I use only one of them

Now I am waiting for these, which according to this new reliable and truthful chinese friend, are supposed to be 5W each.

If they don't work (which I am almost 90% sure), I am off to buy Xtec super bright

any luck with the new set?
I've tried almost every kind of error free can bus led's from ebay with no luck.
So I ended up getting two different kind of incandescents but

1) http://www.ebay.com/itm/281112312231 :still yellowish.
2) http://www.ebay.com/itm/230568867193 :very dim and too bluish.

Now I'm waiting for the Polarg m28 which is on par with LED's but they are 10Watts so there is a chance of melting the housing.

I bought these a month ago, and these are by far the best bulbs for non led. They look just like a led bulb and are just a bit dimmer than stock bulbs. I'll jump to LED when someone finds a led bulb that doesnt throw an error.

The LEDs don't "Throw" an error.
The car's system is expecting a certain amount of current draw.
LEDs take much less current than a standard bulb. The fix is to add a resistor that waists power as heat to make the efficient LED look like a inefficient blub.

Someone should do some simple testing to find out EXACTLY what the minimum current needed to keep the car happy, instead of what we all seem to be doing with hit or moss attempts.
