leaking transmission line

Hello.

I found the leaking transmission line in my 2009 ML350. See below pictures.
  • Does anyone have similar experience on this and how did you fix this.
  • Based on picture, does it look like its the line itself or the fitting?
  • I did some research and found that you can buy a dipstick for 722.6 to determine how much transmission fluid you have, but i was unable to find one for 722.9, does such exist?

Thanks.

the trans cooler line needs to be replaced. There is no dipstick for the 722.9 trans and it is filled through the bottom of the pan. Do not drain the fluid unless you have the filling equipment available. Overall, this is an easy job

how many hours of labor would you say this needs? Dealer wants 3 hours labor + 70 dollars parts.

In order to 'top off' the loss fluids, refill all in the pan is the only option?

Thanks.

I assume they are just giving you the price for the one line and some fluid? That's a pretty standard labor time and like all cash times they are a little more than warranty. You will lose some fluid when the line is detached and that is why it needs to be filled. And no, you do not get all the fluid replaced. But they connect the filling equipment and the fluid level is set with a procedure at 112 degrees. Where are you located?

i am located in NYC.

Yes, the price they told me is to replace the line. it did not mention topping off fluid - but i shop that should be common sense.

So, do you think retighten the banjo bolt for this line could "possibly" fix it? Or need to replace the line?

Thanks.
