Ipod/Iphone Cable in 2008 ML320 CDI

Hey guys...

The plastic pieces of the iPod/iPhone adapter in my ML fell off, and before I could get around to putting them back on, the wires inside frayed, and broke off. Now, one side of the audio doesn't work, and it won't charge unless you hold it a certain way.

I don't really want to re-solder everything, so I'm thinking it would be easier to replace the entire cord. If I'm going to do that, is there a way I can update the old cord to the newer "lightning" adapter?

Thanks for your help...

To be honest, the OEM cable works fine with the two adapters I have on it, so if I could just replace the OEM cable, that would be enough.

Any idea if I can order a new cable, and if so, where from?

I've seen OEM MB iPod kits online on eBay, amazon, etc. Don't know whether there's a lightning version. You could get an adapter for lightning, but I believe it'll limit some of the functionality.

Well, it seems to work fine when I use my Thunderbolt, to 30 pin, and then the 30 pin, to lightning adapters. It just looks silly to have 2 adapters on the cord. A friend of mine was joking that if I keep the car for another 5 years, I'll have 6 inches worth of adapters.

I figured since I was going to replace the cable anyway, I might as well try to update it but if that's not possible, I'm fine with the original equipment.
