Rear Lights problem

Hi all.

I have an issue where the rear right turn signal does not work. I do not get any messages in the dash, and the indicator works correctly, but the turn signal bulb does not flash.

If i take the bulb and socket out of the housing, i get the messages that it is out and that the substitute is working, and the substitute light does work fine. I checked the left vs right rear turn signals and the same wire on the left that pushes 12.4 v intermittently when the left signal is on reads nothing on the right side. I went to dealer and was told it is a common problem and bought a fix kit for about 50 bucks. When i got back home to install the kit, i realized it had already been done on my car and seems to be for the brake lights anyway not the turn signal.

The question is, am i not getting any voltage because of a short someplace, or should i be worried about a SAM unit or something similar?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
