ML320 CDI (W164) Turbocharger Inspection
While doing the filters job in my ML320 CDI (W164) 70K miles I noticed that some blades of the turbo compressor were bent. No marks on them or in the inlet housing. No debris. No signs. The wheel turns smoothly with no clearance.
The turbo performance is still the same, I have no CEL.
Anyone who had experienced this, should I take any action to prevent further damages on it? Thanks.

If you are still looking at this site, I'd be interested to know how things turned out. I found a similar problem when changing my filters. The blades were chipped on the front end, but not bent. Someone had installed the air duct assembly incorrectly with the gasket doubled up inside the intake. The plastic flange collapsed when they tightened the clamp, and pieces of the gasket and flange must have gone through the turbo, leaving damage to the blades. But performance seems not to have been affected. I've installed a new air duct.

My truck is 100K miles now and I have experienced no issues due these bent rotor blades. I was afraid that the rotor could turn unbalanced somehow and shorten the lifetime of its axle, but not, it didn't change a bit, turning smoothly, free and no clearance. I think you will have no problems too but don't forget to keep checking it at each filter change. Good luck!
