Removing steering wheel trim?

My steering wheel's trim is peeling (as is very common on these wheels) and I'd like to take it off to wrap it in a nice material (as I did with all other aluminum-coloured panels on the doors).

Does anyone have any idea how to get these parts off? I thought removing the airbag would do the trick, but from looking at photos of these wheels online, that seems to be wrong.

I'm talking about the aluminum/silver coloured trim:
