Can anybody recommend a fault code reader that works with an ML 430
I have an intermittent problem with my ML 420 and need to get it checked for any fault codes.
On previous cars I have always wasted time and money trying to find a reader that works with the car and am hoping somebody on here can help.
Does anybody have and recommendations on a good value code reader?
Thanks
Alex

Out Of Control!!
If you are just gotta know what the CEL means and that's it---buy the cheapest reader you can find---then as you read and study more you can look to advanced diagnostic equipment, but at that it still comes down to your expectations of the tool!!

When someone asks a question the obvious answer is usually not the answer they're looking for. Any old OBD scanner will do for reading CEL codes... That's true. But the other person and future readers of this post would like a little bit more than just any old OBD II scanner.
One scanner that I have used that will give you a whole lot more than a regular scanner is: Multi-system Scanner i980 from iCarsoft. It can be found for $130-$160 on various websites (amazon, ebay etc)

MBWorld Fanatic!
1+ on the iCarsoft i980. No where near as good as the DAS system, but allows you to read most everything including real-time data.

ML350, 2007 Passat
I too have the iCarSoft 1980 that I use on our 06ML350. This will also reset fault codes, and reset the SRS fault, which I had when the front seat was removed to repair a rip in the seat bottom.
