Crankcase ventilation valve...
Has anyone replaced one on a ML350 (2009)? Had the oil changed yesterday and they told me it needed replacement. Quoted me $432 for the job. Don't mind paying for service if it's something I can't do but the part is only $43...
I've searched for info on the job but not been able to find anything for a MB.
Thanks for any input!

Have 165000 miles on mine and never replaced. Not saying yours doesn't need to, but just never heard of it before. It mounts on the pass side valve cover, has a hose that runs to an in line heater that then plugs in to the air intake inlet hose just before the turbocharger.
Are they recommending a change because the are seeing some oil residue at the inlet of the turbo? Cause that is normal. Or is there a specific code that the ECU is giving for their recommendation?
I will say I have replaced those hoses before as they started to disintegrate with oil residue, and the seal around the entrance to the turbo is also a common repair.

Yes, they said they were starting to see some oil residue around it.
I have read other non-MB specific articles about the valve and they have said that it can become clogged over time. I have 113000 miles on mine.
I should probably clarify with my shop if they replace the hoses with the valve. Perhaps they replace them all they begin to leak.
My question was born more over the cost to replace some rather cheap parts...ever since they quoted me about $400 total to replace the air and cabin filters which I can easily replace my self for $50 and 15 minutes I have to take a step back and pause before deciding if I'm going to do it or pay to have it done. I've yet to figure out the automotive service pricing scheme. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to the costs of one service related to another.

I doubt it needs to be replaced. I've never heard of anyone replacing it either. Probably the gasket from the hose to the intake Y-pipe is damaged. It's normal to see oil in the inlet to the turbo.
Look for PotAuto cabin filters on Amazon. They're a decent filter and they'll cost less than $20. You should be able to find the engine air filters there too. I use K&N engine air filters personally.
