Some progress, I replaced the rear SAM now most things are working but no Fuel gauge or Passenger seat motion.
My icarsoft code reader does not throw up any codes re the fuel sensors ( There is a left and right) can anybody throw any light on these values ?

Huge Elecrical Fail solved w/SAM +

So it appears that although MB dealer says no coding is necessary. that is not always the case, My passenger seat is not memory and the SAM comes coded for Memory Passenger seat so once that was coded we were good with that. the fuel gauge took a little more with a software /Firmware flash and now that works fine.

I am posting this solution to help anyone else in this situation

2008 ml350
Hey Justin,
I'm having the exact same problem. My vehicle is a 2008 ml350 w164. Being that I am only 17, I don't have any experience working on cars. I can not get an appointment until after the weekend, and was wondering if you could help me by explaining how you fixed this. What is SAM? Can I buy parts at the dealership? Were you able to fix this yourself? Will I be able to do this?
Thanks,
Joël
