ML550 Pinging/Knocking Under Load
Has anybody else had this problem? I always use 93 octane and have tried switching brands a few times.. I changed the spark plugs, replaced the oil separator, and cleaned the throttle body.. Sounds real bad under hard acceleration. Seems weird that the check engine light never comes on either. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try to find a station that sells non-ethanol gas in your area. If you know someone that owns a boat, they can tell you where to find some. I know they say it's safe but I try to avoid ethanol laden gas whenever I can. The station owner said that he has to replace parts in the ethanol pumps twice as much as the non-ethanol pump. I would see if changing over to non-ethanol fuel eliminates the pinging.
