1st Service B for $570? (2014 ML350 with 10K miles)
Hello,
My 2014 ML350 is due for its 1st Service B. It had a service A about one year ago @ 5K miles. Now it has 10K miles in total (~5K miles / year).
My local dealership offers $570 (they said it's already after promotion discount).
Since it has low mileage, I'm not sure whether it's worth the money. As I understand, a big part of Service B is "checking/inspection". While that does offer peace of mind, I don't know whether that's necessary at 10K miles. (I live in California and the car has been always under light load).
Any suggestion/comment will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
David

It's a $570 oil and filter change. Then they inspect everything and tell you about all the stuff that needs to be addressed for another $2000. Proceed at your own peril.

Just get an oil change anywhere it's not any different than any other car. Mobil 1 should be under $150. Dealer services are a complete ripoff. At 10k nothing else will be done at all.

Thank you for all your replies!
Based on the replies here, I don't plan to visit the dealership for maintenance any more.
It'd be greatly appreciated if someone could recommend a trustworthy independent mechanic or oil change place in the East Bay area of San Francisco, California. Thank you!!

I will say that taking your vehicle to the dealer, they will check for any service bulletins and do those items for free.
I've attached the service sheet, and on what they inspect and what needs to be done.
You can request that the dealer simply do an oil change, and they will
probably do the inspections anyway, since anything they find is likely a warranty issue and they get paid for that by Mercedes. Often the dealers will have a free XX# point maint. check, so ask about that too.
So, you can request and oil change, and then say, while you're at it, if you see any warranty issues, or service bulletins that apply to my vehicle
please resolve them.
Doing an oil change is easy, just use a pump from the top.
What dealer are we talking about? Avoid Smythe in San Jose like the plague.
EDIT: Isn't 2014 a different series? I think you are a W166 not W164.
You should post over there. That being the case the service sheet I posted won't be accurate. But it's still a good guide as to what they check.

My mechanic here in Berlin has access to the same service bulletins and service check info and he doesn't charge me a dime to go through them because if he finds something it's more business for him. But he sure as heck doesn't charge me $570 for a "Service B" a.k.a. oil change. I paid €150 for that, including high end synthetic oil, fixing a leaking tire, checking all other fluids and filters and cleaning the engine compartment.

loaners should be provided with scheduled appointment. Just for that I would drop this dealership. Service adviser suppose to keep you updated via text/emai/calls - whatever you told them.
On the service duration they may run into full software update and couple recalls and it takes time. Also they may not have experience with AMG E63s.
