Auxiary battery
The white battery visit workshop is on. I wonder if that auxiliary battery being low can cause transmission not to shift. I read few post stating that auxiliary battery was bad and car would not shift.

I know the E55 AMG and the ML 320 are worlds apart but I was wondering if I didn't have one of those aux batteries, and if I need to replace that as well.
I was also told that a battery warning light could mean a failing, or failed alternator. I don't think that's my problem because the car starts, and runs fine. The mechanic who told me this was thinking "old school", American cars I think.
Let me know when you find out what fixes it. I'll be interested to hear!

From reading this forum white battery warning is auxiliary battery and red is main battery.
When engine is running voltage is 13.8V The car revs high and will not shift. Is that due to bad battery or conductor plate?

It's not an OEM battery but I have seen other options available for as little as $7-$10. They might not be an exact fit, and some have complained about the terminals being reversed but there are aftermarket options available.
