Hey, which of the DC area dealers did you buy it from? 10% discount doesn't sound bad at all. Thanks, Victor

Try the Costo insurance, which is provided by Ameriprise. By far, the cheapest policy I've ever payed for car insurance. I am paying $414.00 for a six month premium on a 06 325i Victor
Got dropped from my auto insurance
"So now that Mass has finally deregulated insurance here, I have lost my safe haven for being an overly aggressive driver... I have recieved notice that as of August 16th, my MLs policy will not be renewed... What are my options? I was using Encompass for my policy but now need to move to someone else... Can anyone recomend another insurance company?"
I guess it depends on where you live. Since you're in CA, you're probably better off with people confusing you with being Hispanic/Mexican. Now if you were in the D.C area, you'd probably be better off with people confusing you with an indian/paki/bang/ or even a middle-eastern, since there are so many in this part of the country. We don't have that many Mexicans over here, though we do have a lot of Hispanics from Central America. Victor
Being mistaken for an Indian/Paki...
"Stranger things have happened but I've been getting a lot of people lately mistaking me for being either Indian or Pakistani. I walked into a gas station the other day and the Pakistani owner gave me a smile and a nod as I walked in and then when I went to pay started addressing me in his native language. Then the other day at work a lady asked me if I was Indian and the same week I got that question from an Indian guy at the gym. To give you some background, I've almost always had facial hair (either a mustache or a goatee) and have spent most of my life being mistaken as Hispanic or Mexican. I would get the people that walk up to me on the street and start rambling on in Spanish all the time. I would just give them a blank stare and say "no hablo espaniola" (even though I do ..."
I agree with this statement 100%. I am Hispanic and I am a republican. I am against illegal immigration, so we're not all democrats, nor for open borders. Most of my hispanic friends if not all are againts illegal immigration. I would also agree that most people that go to those rallies are the illegal ones. Victor
Quoted from LRM1's post
"As for the "hispanic vote" I'm not so sure that this is as much of an issue for them as a group as most think it is. Perhaps for the families of illegals in SoCal, Arizona, etc maybe (those tend to vote Democratic anyway due to their social class more than ethnicity) but for most legal immigrants of Hispanic background or decendants of such, I would hazard a guess that we would be for sending them all back - I know every hispanic I know gets very angry at seeing signs in Spanish, these people raising medical costs, etc. The only people I see protesting for "illegal rights" are illegals, or far left wingers who take up every cause. So how would the psotions of the candidates matter if these people can't vote anyway?"
Actually, the best place would be Venezuela. I just came back from a business trip over there, and gas is ridiculous cheap. You can fill out the gas tank of a compact car with less than $2.00, and I am talking about premium gas. Diesel is even cheaper than gas. Victor

I live 5 minutes from Dulles, and Design wise is not that bad, at least from the outside. The inside on the other hand is too plain looking. I think Union Station in DC looks more modern and it's not even an airport.

"not trying to knock you just more saying these stupid loans should not be legal or offered. the system needs to go back to bank + you + your 20%down = bank loans you money on there deposites. not the whole sub prime take advantage of ignorent people w/ equity or a high credit score."
Why shouldn't I have recieved the loan in the 1st place? I could pay it back then and I can still pay it right now. I do agree with you that many people who are in similar situations as I am can't afford their new payments and therefore lose their homes eventually. I didn't get this house as an investment. This is my primary residence and the only property I own. Most of the people losing these homes are the ones that bought it as an investment, and since prices have come ...

"I know your asking for help but here is a perfect example of someone who should of never been given a loan to buy a house. and why the housing market is tanking so bad. the mortgage industry has robbed a lot of people! 20% negative already? M.Lynch says we got another 30% to go."
Absolutely. Unfortunately, I don't have the money available right now. I could use some of my savings, but I don't think it's worth it just to save a few hundred dollars a month. Victor
Quoted from revstriker's post
"I understand. However, if I were you, I would still do whatever I could to get rid of the 20% loan and refi the 80%."
I can afford the new monthly payment, that's not really the problem. I do want to take advantage of the low 30 year fixed rates currently being offered, not to mention the 3 year arm is over, so I have to refinance the house. I won't be able to refinance the 2 loans based on the new appraisal though.
Quoted from Vader55's post
"This is sound advice above. However, If you did a an 80/20 purchase money loan, you can walk away with "no" tax burden, once you refi, then all bets or off and if you short sale or foreclose in the future you can expect a bill. So make sure you can handle the payment terms of this new deal or walk now. You can also try a short sale with the lender or stop paying and live there for 5 or 6 months before you have to go."
I didn't say that. I will refinance my 80% loan at a low 30 year fixed rate, which is what Suntrust already offered me, and I am just going to keep the 20% loan with the current bank and make extra payments to the principal as often as possible. PMI doesn't apply when you have 2 loans
Quoted from revstriker's post
"So let me understand this..... You'd rather pay interest on a loan for an asset which is depreciating in value than to own more equity on the asset? This makes no sense to me at all. Not to mention, you're stuck with the burden of PMI."
This is exactly what I am planning to do. I definitely do not want to walk away from my property. I've invested some money on it, so we'll see what happens with the housing market in the future.
Quoted from Hazy1's post
"If they will refi the 1st mortgage only, and the rates still are really good right now, then I would do it if the $7,000 represents a fair % for closing costs (I wouldn't pay that on a"
Yep, the wannabe investors ruined the Northern VA housing market in general. Most homes in the area have lost anywhere between 15 to 20% of their value from 3 years back, this is at least what the person who appraised my property told me. I know of at least one foreclosure in my neighborhood. Probably, there're others that I don't know about. Victor
Quoted from tuscanraider's post
"Why has the property lost so much value? Have surrounding properties encountered similar situations?"
Just the thought of putting any money down in this property that isn't worth what I paid 3 years ago bothers me a little. I honestly would prefer to invest that money in something I know would get me something back. Yeah. Suntrust offered me that when the deal what's still going on. The problem is that they won't refinance my property for the total value of the house from back in 05, or any other banks for that matter because of the new appraisal. I really don't want to ...
Quoted from Moviela's post
"I would get into a fixed loan as fast as practical. I don't believe anyone would refi without an appraisal. If you need to pay down the difference between the new loan and the existing first, sell the car, the TV, the dog, or anything of value to get that done."
I currently have 2 loans (80/20) My 80% loan just got adjusted this month. I was in the process of refinancing my property with Suntrust Bank just last month. I actually was getting a pretty good deal, a 30 year fixed rate conventional loan at 5.75% with no points with the option to buy out the PMI for .0875 of a point. Unfortunately, the appraisal came back too low and Suntrust will no longer refinance my property. Suntrust did offer me to refinance the 80% loan based on ...
Pretty good article about this subject.
Quoted from LRM1's post
"If we elect Clinton or Obama, it'll be much worse. I still can't understand the hatred of McCain from within the party. I'm not his biggest fan, but the alternatives are worse. We're acting like the Democrats who take every opportunity to screw things up. The Republican party of today has become like the Catholic Church! It will not adjust, is totally inflexible and then wonders why it's losing membership. There is more to the Republican party than just conservatism. And the conservatism of today is not the conservatism of Ronald Reagan despite what everyone seems to think."
Couldn't have said it better
Quoted from LRM1's post
"I don't understand why you keep saying that. McCain has a more conservative record than most Republicans running including Romney yet he's bashed by the right. Why? Because he crosses the aisle to push through legislation? Because he doesn't simply go with what the party line is? Personally I disagree with some of his views, but he is not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination. Basically by "voting out of principle" against McCain, you will in effect be supporting Clinton or Obama, both the most liberal candidates in the universe - and you cannot compare those two to McCain. That's the problem with the Republican party-it's "our way or the highway". That hasn't worked for Bush, it hasn't worked to bring the country together and it won't let us keep the White House. The Democrats ..."
