N91K We had purchased a full Brabus kit and were about to ship it up North for the 2 month conversion. (See pic) but unfortunately Brabus in California called and gave us the sad news that the body kit was no longer in production, and only certain pieces were left. They are on the expensive side, but worth it IMO Here's a direct link to all their pricing for the GLK X204 / USA It should give you an idea of the components they have available, especially wheels. It still ...
Was at my dealer this morning checking on my third tranny. Still hasn't arrived. They said they'll be getting the '13 GLK's in about a week to 10 days. But something tells me they already sold one or two. One of my employees said he saw one on the road yesterday??? Hmmmm
Quoted from golfster's post
"I saw my first at a dealer in Florida yesterday while on business. I really like what they did with the interior...subtle, but needed improvements. I didn't take pictures, but it was Mercedes of Melbourne, FL. I also found the vehicle through cars.com: Hopefully the link to their pictures will work."
Now now! Untrue, and selective. Your personal hatred is showing.

"No, you’re certainly NOT mistaken, people anywhere in the world are welcome when needing help and offering support – it’s the mbworld.org, isn’t it?. And as the saying goes (in parts of this big world): “There are no dumb questions – only some stupid answers” (e.g. responses)). One problem with the poster in question is that he repeatedly acts as if his personal (and odd) opinions are valid in general for the forum. A second feature is his lack of seeing this forum and its members in a “global perspective” (although he quite a few times has referred to his travels in the world), for which we clearly have seen the outcome of now. Characteristically does this poster not act as he speaks, note: Doesn’t the flippant response to ..."
I did ride in all weather. You do get use to it, as long as you wear the right protective clothing. Obviously on snowy days I would be forced to drive my car (had a GTI back then) but there weren't may of those, luckily. I happen to agree with your last thought. It sounds to me that maybe it's time to sell your baby and move on to the next phase of your life. There will always be more time (and money after graduation) for a newer and grander baby. Good luck!

"I actually do have a Mercedes branded cover I bought through the dealer made with NOAH fabric, it was very pricy and I haven't used it once yet. Not a bad idea, but I do agree a covered car would attract thieves and careless parking spot neighbors. A bike isn't a bad idea, cheap, economical, cool, but I would never (nor would my dad let me) use it to drive all the way to the school considering the roads/bridges I have drive on, using it to get to the train station though might be plausible. I still would have to talk my dad into it, we made a deal when I was maybe 10 that I would never get a motorcycle. Redux, did you drive it in winter/snow? But then again I think it would be stupid buying a W124 just cause I don't want to park my C at the train station, they're both automatic ..."
No more publications. If you wish to have access to repair manuals, you must now go to StarTek and sign up. $18 US/day!

"This is making it more difficult for the DIY enthusiast & also makes this forum more relevant. I cannot purchase any workshop information from MB in Aust. & the Haynes manual in the W204 has not been published yet."
Oh man, I had a grand time doing it! Everyone laughed! In my 45 years of selling (also a salesman for 7 years), buying, building, restoring, and now tuning cars, I find it's only the dealerships that are doing poorly that need to adopt such unfair policies, most likely to make up for their losses. These dealerships also have a tendency to overprice their parts, and over exaggerate their repair estimates, especially non-warranty claims. Customers can always smell out a ...

"You sir are a ***** tbh. Salesmen need to make a living too. Don't go into dealerships and make them look bad for putting mark-up prices on their cars. At all dealerships, when we sell a car at or below msrp we only make what we call a mini, which is the least amount of money you can make selling a car which is around $250-350(Some dealers only give salesmen $100-200) in which we would have to sell 15+ cars to pay bills(most salesman average 8-11 cars a month, 15 is your top seller on a good month) Most of us have wives and kids that we have to feed, so when you do stuff like that it really pisses the employees off in which it usually gets taken out on the next customer. Moral of the story, don't bash dealerships if you are a CUSTOMER in front of other customers. And don't EVER go into a ..."

"N91k.. aren't you the female owner of this GLK and you're from the middle east if I'm not mistaken?"
First, it's a comedic figure of speech, used everyday by thousands of people. My own MB salesmen, that I know for over 15 years said the same thing to me the other day. Jeeezzz lighten up. If you're that sensitive, I'd hate to see how you would react to real criticism. Second, I am NOT a moderator. Third, I personally think it shows a lack of respect and/or ambition when other people are too lazy to make a simple phone call and do a little leg work on their own, but ...

"I can't believe you just said that... MBRedux. I wish people here are non-judgmental. Anyways... N91K I'm sorry for what our, MBRedux, our very owen moderator, had just said. I am sure he's just kidding. But anyways, here's the brabus usa link. I may go to Fletcher Jones here in OC today and I'll ask them. For both wheels though I'd approximately say they are between 6-8K per set with no TPMS no Sensors. Just to give you an example a Lexus IS-F Rims per piece is 2k per wheel. So I won't be surprised if any of the wheels that you like can go as high as 10K for all 4. Very few members here will suggest buying a set from Ebay or from some website on the internet cuz he or she thinks it's cheaper. But Personally, I won't suggest it unless you can see the items for sale in person. ..."

2013 GLK showroom sightings?
"I am hearing from two (2) different local dealers that there will be at least one 2013 GLK in the showroom this week. What is everyone else hearing? Who will be the first to report (preferably w/ a pic) the first sighting "in the wild?" : ) Scott"
I see a phone number. Plus you know what they say, if you have to ask the price, most likely you can't afford it.
Lorinser or Brabus
"Hi everyone, Anyone here with Brabus or Lorinser wheels? Or anyone knows how they cost? I like these : 1- 2- Thank you"
They do make a interface overide so that DVD movies can play while driving ( not blu ray ). In some states, like Va and Md, there is a $150 fine if caught. Second, it also interferes with Command. Another words, buy her a laptop with a DVD drive instead.
Viewing a DVD while driving
"Is there a way to make this happen? I've seen some Youtube clips and it looks pretty complex. Is there a software menu you can toggel this off and on? It would be nice to have a video on while driving."
Quoted from Fung63's post
"about a week? it wasn't too loud but you can definitely hear it. Just bugged me enough to take it in. tbh it suprised me that the whole tranny had to be replaced. however the upside is that I wont need to do the MB required 60k kms tranny flush by the time I log another 60k kms on it, it'll be time to trade it in!"
^ THIS! Caught that as well.
Updates for 2013
"Mercedes-Benz has revealed a series of upgrades to the 2013 C-Class range, designed to appeal to both the corporate and retail markets."
I bought a small 600 Honda Sport Bike. Strapped my books on back and off I went. But if you can afford another sacrificial car, by all means GO FOR IT! It will give you peace of mind while in class.... that's priceless! Anything will do, but not this.. stay away if they look like this! Borat's car !
Quoted from LandSeaAir's post
"Thanks for all the input everyone. I expected more "it's just car, drive it" responses, but its obvious there are a lot of people on here that care about their car as much as I do and don't like it being abused from everyday driving. All good points made, Redux and jctevere about the insurance and Sportstick about not making use of the C's safety features. Right now I'm thinking the train will be best. I still am reluctant leaving it in the train station parking lot. It's a relatively safe area, so I'm mainly worried about the paint baking the in the sun all day from the UV rays, and dings and scratches. I have tints, rear sunshade and will buy a windshield reflector to protect the interior, but again, the dings and uv rays are tough on the car. Perhaps I'll buy a beater just to take to ..."
Covers don't work very well on dirty cars. But mostly they are a thief magnet, and the guy parked next to you almost always believes he can now slam his door into yours without damage, just because it's covered.... Not! It just encourages them...
Quoted from RLE's post
"Car covers are good idea for inside use and I have one for my #2 car. But, you cannot cover a dirty car because the wind will move the cover around and scuff the paint, no matter what it's made of. And over time the cover will become dirtier and dirtier. The second problem is rain. What do you do with a wet cover? You would have to roll it up and put it into a container of some sort to avoid ruining the trunk "carpet" and you certainly can't put it inside."

I'm from LI as well. The LIRR can be a real PITA. But then again, so can LIE, Grand Central, Meadow-Brook, Cross Island Exp. etc etc etc. The other part is the insurance. State Farm Ins. and a few others limits you to a 10K mile/year average. 200 school days x 80 = 16,000 miles just for school. They love sending you a questionnaire asking for your OD reading every 12 months, with questions like, "Is this car used for work or pleasure?" "Is it your daily commuting ...
80 miles a day commutting to school - buy another car or use my W204?
"This fall I will be commuting to college, I can either take the train or drive. I think I would prefer to drive as long as I can avoid rush hour. its 40 miles each way so I would be doing 80 miles a day on my c300 about 4 days a week. I care for my car a lot and I hate the wear and tear that goes on it, I am so anal about it, I hate driving people around in it, leaving it in the sun, going over rough roads etc. Not to mention I may be leaving it in the train station parking lot if I do take the train sometimes. So I am thinking of buying another car to beat on to get to school and back while keeping my c300 covered in the garage. However, I plan on having the car for a while, so I have been just thinking about using it for the commute and racking up the miles. I think to myself the c300 ..."
When we recently went shopping for our new daily driver, (ending up with the 2012 C300 4M) we visited several competitors. It was just around the time the new 3 Series BMW's were hitting the showrooms. Since they were so new, every dealer around here placed a $4-5,000.00 dealer mark-up on the window. Luckily I just so happened to have had my sons birthday card in my sport jacket's inner pocket. It was one that talks when you open it. This one happened to be of a loud ...
Dealer Marking Up C250 by $5,000???!?!
"Has anyone had any experience with dealers marking up C classes? A new 2013 with the new Sport Package came in to my local dealer and I went to check it out only to find a sticker on the driver's window that says, "MSRP: $46,XXX + $5,000 DEALER MARK-UP = $51,XXX" Why??!! By the way, the dealer was Mercedes Benz of Encino! Stay away! $5K? Really?"
My guys at the shop dubbed the term ... a SMYS run = "Show Me Your Sh*t" run. It's where the car shows you what it can do, what it is capable of when pushed to its limits. I would take it in and show the service tech. May need a flash.
Clunky shift around 30-40 mph on '12 GLK?
"Car has 800 miles only so far Shift was absolutely smooth till last week. Last Friday morning, I notice there IS a behavior change in the transmission, usually when I go for 30-40 mph, there is a hard gear shift, maybe between gear 3 and 4 out of 7, not sure since I can not tell which gear I am at, RPM drops from 2100~ to 1500 suddenly and it feels really hard. Never had this problem before and this ONLY happens around 30-40 mph, once I pass that gear tranny is very smooth during shift. I searched and found someone get the tranny "reflashed", so my Q is: - After reflash, how long will it keep in factory default mode and will it "adapts" to my driving style and run into this issue again? I drive pretty gentle and I cannot think of any reason for the tranny to change its behavior. - ..."
