So I saw a CLA 45 at my local dealership. They're adding 10k mark up. I also heard one other, possibly Fletcher Jones, has a 20k mark up. Any confirmation out there?

Sounds like the weakness is in the mid-high range. a 4.2 0-60 should garner a better quarter mile time.

"Carlsson’s flagship CLS conversion is for the CLA45 AMG, which comes with 360hp and 4WD as standard. Carlsson boosts the output of their CCA45 RSR to 450hp, which turns the compact four-door Coupe into a supercar killer. Carlsson offers a three-year warranty on all their conversions and parts. With fitting done by an accredited specialist workshop, the factory warranty is unaffected, and Carlsson guarantees all its own parts in full. II. Damage to the drive train 1. Repair obligation In addition to the customer‘s statutory or otherwise contractually based entitlements in respect of defects vis-à-vis the seller of the guarantee product in question, Carlsson also undertakes to repair the motor, rear axle differential, gears, cardan shaft and axle drive shaft (drive train) free-of-charge, ..."

This right here.

Well it's great that it all boils down to contract law, which is nothing more than 'who's more right based off their arguments'. If that weren't the case, there wouldn't be any need for attorneys, now would there? You feel it's wrong, I feel it's right. Regardless, I'll go with what I see. At least that way if they're wrong, I have someone's head to roll. Long story short, don't tune it if you're afraid to blow your motor. I have every intention to after seeing a ...

"How big of them! But Carlsson cannot tell you that the factory warranty is unaffected. They have no authority to tell you whether Mercedes believes Carlsson's product voids a portion of the Mercedes warranty. Get something in writing from MB that it doesn't void your warranty or have Carlsson show you a full car warranty in the US under US law in the event MB elects not to cover a claim against an MB warranty. I'm not going to give you a primer on common law vs. civil law and I can't help it if you don't understand how contracts work. All I'm telling you is that your expectations are off and your understanding is wrong. -Eric"
Quoted from said page: "Carlsson offers a three-year warranty on all their conversions and parts. I've got better things to do with my time.

"There is no warranty at the link you provided. You provided a link to a marketing piece on the CLA that says their parts have a 3yr warranty. Show me the actually warranty. BMW says it offers a 4yr/48mos new car warranty...but that statement isn't the warranty smart guy. -Eric"
I'll be here all week. And no, it doesn't say or implies that said warranty is limited to any country. Problem is no one ever wants to shell out the cash to actually do it right.
Quoted from Sue Esponte's post
"Please point me to a Carlsson warranty that clearly applies to products sold in the United States that is subject to US laws and jurisdiction -- not just products sold/installed by Carlsson in the EU and Switzerland that is subject to the German Civil Code and Commercial Courts. -Eric"

"Next time you have some time go out when ur car is cold like in the morning and pull the coolant cap off and start ur car turn the heat on hot and high and let it run till it reaches running temp then put the cap back on. You might have an air bubble in the Lines."

So on occasion I'm getting a check coolant warning message on my C230, but I've checked it multiple times. It's practically full. I'm guessing it's a faulty sensor? Anyone have insight on this? Also if it's as simple as that, is it easy to replace on your own?

Carlsson back their products with a 3-year/30,000 mile warranty on their tunes & products, including this car. It's quite simple. Get a tune from a company with a reliable history. The only reason to be scared is if you don't know what you're doing, in which case, DON'T DO ANYTHING. Seriously, it's not hard. Mercedes/AMG isn't going to build an engine like this without leaving play room for safety purposes and for warranty reasons too. Longevity is expected out of ...
Quoted from Jycke's post
"Yup. That is why i wouldn't tune the engine. I think it's hard to talk yourself into a new engine covered by warranty"

Kleemann header for 2005 C230 w203 M271 motor, great condition
"I'm selling my used Kleemann Header for a 2005 Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor with the M271 engine. This was on my car for a couple years and i took it off a couple months ago because i had to get my car smogged. Header is in excellent condition. Its made by Kleemann, one of the top Euro tuners around not ebay junk. It comes with everything that it came with when new. Header, downpipe with hi flow cat. This Header goes for over $1000 new, if you can find it. Im asking $500, if i can get it great, if not ill just throw it back on the car. The color has darkened a little but still looks really nice. Its a pretty easy job to install. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!"

Wait a second, I was told that the fuel filter on the E55 AMG isn't replaceable unless you replace the entire fuel tank. I've got no problem replacing the fuel filter if that's not the case. What's the proper word? EDIT: Just saw the other statement. I'll be honest. I'm not terribly good at DIY stuff. I don't have much space in the garage for that stuff either, heh. I take it a dealership won't replace the filters?
Quoted from GregMB's post
"^^^ THIS ^^^ It's not as "sexy" as throwing tuner parts at your car, but with 113K on the odometer, it is WAY overdue.... I've said before that my hypothesis about motor failures has to do with running out of fuel due to deferred maintenance of fuel filters... a clogged filter restricts flow, and with the increased demand for fuel from performance upgrades it's only a matter of time before disaster strikes. As has been astutely pointed out, when these cars were new plenty of people pushed them to 500WHP without things like looped fuel rails or larger injectors.... but they had the advantage of perfect, clean fuel filters and new fuel pumps. It seems weird to say that a 500WHP E55 is "commonplace" but certainly there have been plenty of folks who run that kind of power level now ..."

Alright, so before I go stacking 168s or 175s on my car, I've got a question. It's been recommended to me that even though I do plan on going 'safe' with my pulley stack, that I should either replace, upgrade or at least clean out my fuel rail and injectors. My baby's got 113K on her and she drives beautifully. The last thing I want to do is run static and have a boat anchor. So... I'm really not in the notion of wanting to upgrade my injectors/rail per se simply ...

Yeah, but this latest & greatest is boasting serious numbers *with* unheard of fuel economy. I don't think this car's going to necessarily follow the same rules. Remember when the '03 SL500 had a 2-3 year list?

My E55 has gotten up to 22 @ 80 mph average cruising. I was ecstatic. :p
Quoted from Shadow5501's post
"It's hard to believe such a feat is possible. Some quick math. He says it took 15 minutes to get out of Manhattan. If you assume it also took 15 minutes to get into LA, then he covered 2800 miles in, let's say, 27.5 hours. (Check the GPS photo - the moving time is 28:04, stopped time 46 minutes.) That is an average rolling pace on the highway (not city streets) of 102MPH. When you figure a fair bit of time stuck at 60-70MPH behind traffic, that means an equal amount of time at 130+ to achieve a 102 average. It's difficult to believe you can spend that much time at 130 given the reality of traffic and drivers in the USA. The other thing that struck me from the article was the fuel economy. He said "high thirteens." Now I don't know about you, but my 55K car will barely touch 20MPG at a ..."

"That's a byproduct of the so-called 'torque management' feature for passenger comfort and driveline preservation. Your tuner at OE has clever workarounds to delete or override it for you for next to nothing. Haven’t ever personally experienced any C230 with enough thrust to sufficiently tickle my testicles even when its ECU commands 100%/WOT, however. Thus the M113K."
