flashing lights on door locking
I just started having this problem as few weeks ago..I lock the doors using remote and after a few seconds the lights start flashing continuously. I used my other key locking the car and no change. wondering if it is related to a warning for a battery replacement. thanks for your help!

Press the panic button and see if the siren sounds. If not, then it's your siren. The alarm system thinks the siren has been cut off and the alarm goes with blinking lights but since the battery in your siren is dead and not replaceable, the siren does not sound. A new siren with battery is abour 50 bucks. It's a disposable item and shound be replaced every few years. The siren can also go bad if the main battery has been disconnected for extended periods.

Hi mate,
Just wondering is this the same for my problem here please?
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class-w208/180515-rear-fuse-box-wiring.html
I dont have a panic button, but I pulled one of the fuses out of the rear fuse box and the alarm went off and it was pretty deafening so I assume the siren is ok???

This is certainly a new one for me. A siren battery? And you're saying the system senses the siren battery dead/low and flashes the lights?

[QUOTE=mleskovar;1990188]I think he was saying that since the battery is dead, the siren is "technically" disconected from the car as far as the car is concerned. As a security mesure that MB takes, the car recognized this "disconnect" and turns on the alarm. Call it a silent alarm if you will. But its to keep people from cutting the wire to steal your car. The siren will have a seperate batter as opposed to being hardwired into your main power source to keep your alarm working even if your car battery is dead. Some times, your siren can have mulitple battery's depending on the alarm system MB is using.

this is correct. Teleaid has it's own battery as well.

The SAM is the Signal Acquisition/Actuation Module. It's the computer that listens for bus signals from things like light switches and responds by turning on lights and other electrical consumers. The days when switches carried current between battery and lights are long gone for two reasons: 1) lots of high-current switch paths mean a lot of expensive and heavy coppper wire, while computer signals use very little current, and 2) more complicated ways of turning on lights and other electrical consumers means that computer logic is needed.
A SAM is fairly expensive, but as Sunil points out you may have a dead panic alarm siren battery. It's a lot cheaper to replace (even though the whole siren unit has to be replaced) and with a little luck your SAM is fine.

Thank you Whoover.
However my panic works fine, or at least when I press panic button my siren breaks my ear drums. So does that mean I need a front SAM you think???
of cause I am asking for an educated quess, cause my dealer said for me to leave my car for a couple of days and they would check it out and let me know what would fix that problem, of cause they already might have an idea but want to get xtra money from me, and just because i drive a clk430 does not mean i have the money, times are very hard.
thanks

I am having simular problems after arming the car alarm. Except, my problems don't show up until about 20 minutes after the car alarm has been set. Not only do the fog lamps start flashing, but the interior light illuminates and stays on. Anyone have any ideas how to rectify this issue?

anti-theft lights flashing, no horn sounds
Help! I have a 1999 C-280 Mercedes and my lights started flashing recently when I lock the doors; I tried to sound the alarm button, but there was no sound.
I guess this means that my horn battery is empty. Where is this horn battery located in a C-280? Can the battery be replaced? Do I need a special battery or will any similar battery do? If so, can I do this?
If not, where do I order such a battery?

My problem with my 1999 C-280 is still not resolved: I purchased a new horn with built-in battery; when I press down the panic button the horn does not sound. And in cold weather when I lock doors to arm the burglar alarm the lights will start flashing (usually after say half an hour). Any suggestions!

OK... We seem to have sorted the problem of the lights flashing and no siren sounding, with the fix of replacing the alarm siren, which is located on the passenger side inner wing. My problem is that when I lock my 1999 CLK 320 Conv with the key, the hazard lights then continue flashing. On occasion, the car will lock normally, I walk away and then, say 10 minutes later, the hazard lights are flashing (no siren)... On multiple presses of the 'Lock' button on the key, the siren will sound, so I don't think there is a problem with the siren. However, this thread hasn't provided any clue as to what may be the problem if the siren is still working. Is this, therefore, a 'SAM' issue? HELP!

Help please, can't fix light flashing
Did anyone figure out the solution to the light flashing without the siren going off. Im so annoyed with this problem, it has gotten to the point where I have to jump my car every morning cuz my battery dies due to the lights.
