2012 E350 Oil Consumption
I downloaded the "E-Class Sedan and Wagon Operator's Manual" for 2012 from mbusa.com. In the Maintenance and care section on page 309 it states:
"Depending on the driving style, the vehicle consumes up to 0.9 US qts. (0.8 l) of oil over a distance of 600 miles (1000 km). The oil consumption may be higher than this when the vehicle is new or if you frequently drive at high engine speeds."
I called a couple of MB service centers and the concensus is that, according to MB, this much oil consumption is normal. I was told to drive the car into a MB service center and they will top off the oil whenever needed. But who wants to do that every week?
I assume the above describes someone that pushes the engine. Does anyone have an idea of how much oil consumption might be for an E350 if I drive like an old man? For example, if I set the cruise at 65mph, how many miles can I drive before 1 quart of oil needs to be added?
With all the Mercedes on the road I can't believe that people are adding oil any where close to this often. I am thinking about buying a 2012 E350, but if oil consumption is an issue I'll forget it.

You will find similar statements in almost all manuals. It's merely a disclaimer and I think you'll find that it's a rarity to have that type of oil consumption in any of todays modern cars.
I have zero oil consumption in all 3 cars listed to the left. Even the Italian one, although to be fair, that and the C55 only go about 300 - 500 miles on oil changes. Zero for the C300 after as much as 7,500.
