leak from the fuel tank?

Hi, I have a 1998 E320 4 dr sedan. 153,000 miles. I've only had it about 9 months. A few mornings ago I first noticed what appeared to be a wet spot under the back right of my car just to the left of the passenger side tire. The next morning another spot became apparent more towards the middle, below the fuel tank I am thinking. I thought it was just moisture but upon closer investigation it is some sort of fluid with a small gas odor. The fluid marks seem to line up with some sort of 1 inch round protrusion on the bottom of the fuel tank above both areas. Can anyone give me some advice as to what this might be.. Thanks, Melinda

No wonder I didn't get any answers.. I was informed that my jug of antifreeze had tipped over in my trunk and was leaking from there. What a ding-dong I am.. Hope everyone else has such an easy fix for their MB! Happy Holidays folks!
