W164 (2008) ML350 TPMS woes

Hello,
I've got a W164 that had the tires changed this summer. One TPMS was damaged and replaced. It wouldn't register with the car, so it was replaced by a Mercedes specialist and has since been fine.

The weather turned cold and I adjusted my tires. Sadly, another tire went flat as I'd broken another TPMS, which was again replaced and again didn't register. I again took it to the Mercedes specialist and they again replaced it with the correct (same as before) TPMS.

However, I'm again getting the "TPMS inoperative" message. I've adjusted the pressures accurately including the spare with an automatic, digital device. Soft reset doesn't seem to work.

The specialist suggested replacing the rear SAM. I am reluctant to do so as I don't have any other problems typically associated with the rear SAM.

I am considering:

1) Replacing the original TPMS (car made in June 2007 - almost 10 yrs now) as I wonder if the batteries are OK.

2) I ordered a new "2008 MERCEDES E350 TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR CONTROL MODULE A1645403762" identical to the one in the car. It's in the mail. This idea was based on the success of another member here - the receiver was the issue for him.

3) Removing and replacing the fuse to the TPMS - I don't see which one it is.

I'm trying to fix as easily as possible. Please advise
