moving to the Baltimore, MD area

Moving this summer, any tips on places to live in the area would be awesome, maybe a good Indy mechanic to get in touch with as well. Also, how often to people meet up in the area?

Not sure of the Baltimore area in particular. Benz Elite in Alexandria, VA just off the beltway is the place I take my car if I can't DIY. Good guys, former Mercedes mechs, they own Benzos themselves. Shop is always full of top end Euro cars. Eddie and Emile run the shop. Gretta runs the front office.

Max I want to spend on rent is around 1900 a month, I am 27, my wife is 24, and I have a 3yo and a 1yo. So I am definitely looking for a good neighborhood for my family. Thanks for the web link. They seem pretty legit.

Are you looking to live in the city or outside of it? If outside, then which direction?

As for indy shops, I've been to Benchmark Motors once. It's been highly recommended to me by several people. First experience was fine. Unfortunately have to go back so we'll see how it goes next week...

I own a 2007 E-350 4-Matic and looking for an Indy mechanic for replacement of thermostat which I have already purchased from E-Bay.

Does anyone have any suggestion on an Indy mechanic in Baltimore Metro Area (Columbia, Ellicott City, Clarksville, Catonsville, etc.) ?

Look at Pikesville Automotive on Reisterstown Road - They've worked on a few of my cars when I brought in parts and they've always been fair on pricing and the work was superb.

That's the guy and the place, although I believe that Tommy has left the shop by now. Even after he left the place still keeps the high standards and reasonable prices, especially when the "bring your own part" is considered.

Hunt Valley Euro Car.

As far as places to live in MD...Im in Churchville/ Bel Air area. 20-30min NE of Baltimore.

Beware of horrible drivers. Worst in the country.

Found this old thread through a forum search. Were you able to find a good indy mechanic in Howard County? I'm in Catonsville and looking for one myself.

I've been using Benchmark Motors in Columbia. They are not the rock bottom cheapest, but they do good work and they are reasonably priced. Danny is the owner and he's a pretty nice guy.

Thanks, that's helpful. There's a slew of independent shops near me on Route 40 but few of them look like the type of place I would trust with a Mercedes-Benz.
