I have owned 4 Land Rover products... 3 Range Rovers and a Defender 90. The only one that was worth anything was the Defender.
After seeing the same customers week after week in the service area dropping our cars off to fix something...... again, we had a joke that when you by a Range Rover you should get to also choose what color Corolla you want to drive, because we ended up spending more time in the Corolla than the Rover!
Every time I see a rover ad where they are traversing some desert or mountain think to myself.... "If it wasn't for the crew, those people would be left for dead"!
Having said that, the D90 was very reliable. The key was that there was nothing really to break.

I hated my D90, it was always broken. My Disco II was fantastic, and my Supercharged was literally trouble free until 60k miles. MY ML63, ML55, ML500, CLK55 have all been troublesome and consistently in the shop 10-15 times a year. The only other care I had with more problems was an 2005 S4. My M, only issue thus far, oil sensor. I've just come to the realization that every car has some problems. Just need to deal with them.

I know BMW isn't providing powertrains for that POS any more.......but most of them on the road are a couple years old and have those engines. Now they have Jag engines in them; as you stated, which makes them even bigger POS vehicles. I don't care that they can go "anywhere" and only about 1% of owners of Range Rovers will venture off smooth pavement. If you ever had to work on one, or service one, tear one apart or fix one that's been wrecked you would know why I speak so harsly about that vehicle.
I also find it very funny that you mention my little Crossfire SRT-6 in discussion about SUVs. I have no need for an SUV.................but if I were to get one I would only consider the Jeep GC SRT-8.

IMO, RR is better than Jeep GC, and is good enough not to call POS by someone who is complaining because it's just too hard to work...

My car has less than 6k miles....
these have been my problems so far:
Software malfunction (car undriveable)
Transmission failure (car would not shift out of first gear)
Power steering (had to be replaced)
Suspension (shock had to be replaced)
Needless to say . . .I'm not happy . . . and pursuing MB north america at the moment.

07 ML63 Silver Dead at 85k, 14 RS5, 05 SL600
40k no major issues
40k km- frayed edge on a belt, door handle for keyless go and a software upgrade needed for a hesitation. Thats it. Never undrivable. Build quality better than 90% of the stuff on the road acording to my bodyshop who had the rear bumper off and the door apart for some vandalism. Service shop has been exemplary. Between the SL600 and this ML63 it will be a long time before I consider much else. I hope you were one of few unlucky ones Slick and that the dealer can solve the issues.

my ml63 07 has 14k miles on it ,
so far i had just a valve job on it ,since it was a left over model. so far so good.
i leased rr hse back in 05 & had so much problems with it ,i return it after 1 yr .but the rr had the best suv ride on the road.( i had air suspension problems & it does not work in the rain scary )
mb since 05 has being good(my last sl500) , 96 to 02 mb cars had the most problems during this period. i had(96 e320, 01 s500 & 02 cl500) i know the serv advicer by name & became good friends.
as for your question ml63 is hot & the 09 is even better ,so much cheaper than a turbo porsche & faster.
for the money ml63 & they are giving them away nowadays.

Suspension on the right side is being replaced at 19K miles, along with the transmission.

Curious - do you think these problems associated w your ML63 (and I've heard about these issues from more than just you) can generally be cross-referenced to other variants w this motor?
i.e. E63, S63, etc.....
It seems in the past years, the ML has somewhat been the odd-ball out of the bunch, w the worst reliability....
Thanks!

oh man, this is bad. I went to the dealership today and probably it is compressor or cooling fan gone bad. Also a message came out to check the oil on next fill up. ML really got the worst reliability

Latest issues
So, recently at 20k miles, they've replaced the entire front suspension, 3 alignments, two rear door control arms and a set of rear pads again!
God I love this truck! Oh, by the way, I have to put a 3rd set of tires on the car, at 20k miles! YIPPPEEE!

EDIT** I tried the lemon law with MB USA. They said I don't qualify, although the car has been in the shop 31 cumulative days (NJ only requires 20) and the repairs have been major, so I've turned to my attorney to start sending letters, we'll see what happens. My local dealer was looking at getting me into another vehicle, but a divorce related credit issue has recently popped up. So I've asked them to put this car in my company name and they said they won't because I won't get all the "factory cash" I would if it was in my personal name. Crazy thing is, in expectation of getting my money back, I went to the BMW dealer where I bought my M, started the process for an X5 and was approved no problems. So, leaving it up to the attorney at this point. We'll see what happens.
