ML63 - Advice on disconnecting battery from jump start positive terminal

Hi -Does anyone know whether it's possible to disconnect battery from positive jump start terminal under hood? Looks like you can do it after removing red plastic cap, but when I use moderate force with crescent it won't budge - I don't want to use excessive force if it is not possible to undo and thus disconnect power supply via this method! Car not used often and don't want to have to disconnect battery under seat as that's a hassle. cheers Alan
