Cool ml63 on track @ the AMG academy

Dear amg fans,

Here below are a few pictures of my ml63 at the Sachsenring ractrack I also posted 1 picture of the other w166 ml63, the white one, that was with us at the AMG academy.

The event was incredible and boy can the ml63 take a corner around a track. Extremely impressive despite the big weight, the only real problem really... But apart the weight, it's insane how fast and controllable my modified ml63 was. (thanks to the fully disconnected esp no doubt!)
It was also just so much fun around the wet pads… you could just control the car with the throttle…we had a blast You are driving around max 20mph but it’s just so exhilarating to drift an ml amg with the throttle!

The coolest part of the day for me was when we were behind the slightly modified SLS GT... boy I had to push to keep up with the SLS Thank god my ml63 has 680hp and I have a lot of go-kart experience so I knew a few tricks lol
It's also good to know he was pushing the SLS at 95% so the ml63 is an incredibly capable machine! However, for track enthusiast please note that ESP needs to be completely shut off. The (stock) white ml63 was really struggling at the limit as explained by Tiff Needel is his video review... Regardless of that boy it was quick and looks so freakin nice, love it in White!

The racetaxi with Karl Wendlinger (ex F1 driver with Sauber-Mercedes) was insane, the speed at which he was taking the corners was ridiculous and the controlled drifts However, the modified c63 seems so slow on the straights but I guess my ml63 is just too modified lol.

Anyway, a big thanks to AMG, this event was outstanding and big up to my instructor, the race car driver Roland Rehfeld and ''the intern'' Allan who drives the SLS gt3 as a daily job. I can only HIGHLY recommend the amg driving academy, you will have a blast no doubt!

Beautiful Car! What size are those rims you have on? Thinking of adding 22's to mine but I'm afraid they won't look to scale.

Imo 22 rims are perfect on the w166 ml no doubt! If you want to make sure there is no rubbing you can even choose 295/35/22 tires but no need to go that large!

My tires are 315/30/ 22 and i think its the best compromise between performance and confort. However make sure you buy lightweight rims in order to reduced rotational mass.

That looks like a lot of fun. I always thought at the AMG Academy events you use AMG's own [unmodified cars]. Was this a different type of event?

How does the vechile like the 315x30x22, i am looking at either running some HRE's or ADV1's but want to get the widest tire possible under the rear possible

Well, a few things:

- Make sure you choose the 'correct' rear tires size because often larger tires are very hard to find. It's already difficult enough with 315/30/21 tires lol.

- With 315/30/21 the ml handles incredibly well and you really need to drive like a maniac to make the beast slide However.

- HRE will confirm but my understanding is that you can fit 345/xx/21 tires at the rear of our W166 ml63. I remember seeing a white ml63 with the HRE TR45 rims.

- Just from my own experience, make no mistake about it, purchase HRE rims, the best in the industry, you will NOT be dissapointed.

Luckily i know a gent who imports tires, never let me down yet

Good to hear that 345's fit, i wanted to run 24's but i also want to lower it a touch so i'll settle for 22's.

I always knew the HRE's weren't cheap but i saw in another thread that they are around $2,000+ per corner , tough choice no weather i want HRE's or lowering mod+exhaust+tune
