So I found that the ball bearing in the transfer case (the one on the rear differential side - circled in the screenshot) needs to be replaced.




Unfortunately, I found out that the bearing cannot be purchased separately. The only option MB has left for us is to buy the whole transfer case housing including the bearing I need (see #8).

So I have 2 questions:
1. Does someone know the size and specifications of the bearing so that I can look for some standard replacement?

2. Can the bearing be replaced from the outside, i.e. do I need to take down the transfer case? It would be very helpful to know.
