2000 ML55 AMG
Limping home

Hello all:
I have a 2000 ML55 with 300k miles. Yesterday while driving home, she went into limp home mode. I stopped by a local auto parts place and the generic OBD reader shows P0720 and P0700. I am thinking that the 0700 code is probably because it is not getting proper input from the speed sensor (P0700 error). Is my thinking correct on this? In looking at the forums, it appears that it is relatively easy to replace the conductor plate, which is where I assume the P0700 error originates. I am wondering if anyone has knowledge about this.
Also, and unrelated, for a short time now, if I am in Drive, I cannot shift past neutral without turning the vehicle off. I have a feeling that this may be related to a brake switch or something. Any ideas on that?
